Year Two Team News

with Joel, Bianca I, Zoe and Rochelle

Hello Year Two families,

What a wonderful couple of weeks we have had with our students well and truly in the swing of Grade 2 life. We are so impressed with the way our students are entering the classrooms each day and settling themselves in for a wonderful day of learning.

Curriculum Focus: Weeks   6 - 7

Literacy: For the next couple of weeks, we will be writing our own stories based on the idea of a pet having superpowers. As part of the Speaking and Listening component of the English curriculum, students will be required to prepare and present a short oral presentation to the class beginning next week. A schedule of each class’ oral presentations went home earlier this week.

Numeracy:  Students are using a range of addition and subtraction strategies to solve problems.

Inquiry: We are learning about our local area and reflecting on why it is important to us.

Willy Kids: Through the pillar of ‘Learning’, we are learning how to continue developing our skills as problem solvers.

Important Dates Coming Up:

  • Local Williamstown Walk: As part of our Inquiry, on Thursday of Weeks 8 and 9 we will be going on a local walk. If you are a parent that is interested in attending this walk as a parent helper, please contact your child’s teacher. Please note that to attend the excursion the school office needs to have a copy of your Working With Children Check and you need to have completed the school’s volunteering requirements published on Compass at the beginning of the year.

Photos of our students: Please refer to the photos below of some of our Year 2 students enjoying the Mind and Body Incursion.
