Celebrating Together

Mother's Day

The King's College students paid tribute to all mums by creating a beautiful Mother's Day Service. We are delighted to see our college mums and families attend! The Primary Choir opened with "Lean on Me" and had everyone grooving along with them to the music. We heard some good and funny stories from our KCFM Radio crew as they shared things mums do to show their dedication to their families.

Primary and Secondary students, with the help of Miss Rebelo and Mrs Walker, made a video shout-out to thank their mums. We also heard from one of our dedicated mums, Mrs Shyla Villaflor, and her children about how they show love and respect to one another.

The tribute continued with a photo slide show of students and their mums, to a song presentation of "You are the sunshine of my life", and students penning their heartfelt gratitude in a poem and a prayer. Students from Miss D'Silva's dance class presented a lively performance of "Just the Way You Are" to bring the service to a close.

A special morning tea was provided for our lovely guests. The college also blessed the staff as we celebrated our teacher-mums! Thank you to all students and staff involved in the services and morning tea. We are grateful for your dedication. Have a most beautiful celebration on Mother's Day celebration.

ONE - ANZAC Service

The King's College came together as ONE, in a concerted effort made evident by both staff and students, in preparation for ANZAC Day service. Students from the Drama classes helped set up the Auditorium, as they graced it with a sea of poppies. The symbolism behind the poppies and wreaths, created by all Primary students and Secondary HASS and Art students, added a poignant touch to the occasion, emphasizing remembrance and gratitude for those who made sacrifices during times of war.

The Creative leaders and Primary Choir's involvement in leading the Australian and New Zealand National Anthems and presenting "In Flanders Field" gave the event a powerful emotional resonance to the event.

The participation of the student Cadets and our guest Bagpipe player, Mr David Sinclair, in leading the Entrance of the Flag, created a solemn and dignified atmosphere, setting the tone for the rest of the service.   A representative from the RSL Kwinana Branch, Mr. David Spillman, delivered an address on the spirit of ANZAC. It provided valuable insight and perspective on the significance of the day.

The leadership shown by the College Captains and Student Councillors in hosting the service demonstrated a sense of responsibility and honour in ensuring that the commemoration was conducted with respect and reverence.   Thank you to each student and staff, who contributed in their own way to make the service meaningful. The collective effort of everyone involved, from students to staff, speaks volumes about the unity and community spirit at The King's College. It is a beautiful tribute to the selfless service men and women who have set an example for us all.
