Safety Alert | eRideables

As the popularity of eRideables and electric scooters continues to surge among students, safety becomes an ever-increasing concern. It's crucial for young riders to understand the importance of protective gear and age restrictions to ensure their journey to and from school is as safe as possible.

Age Restriction 16+

There have been several students riding to school who are under 16. In WA, individuals must be at least 16 years old to legally operate an eRideable or electric scooter. This rule is in place to ensure that only those with the maturity and skill to handle these vehicles are on the road, reducing the risk of accidents. The fines and penalties for riding eRideables can be found here eRideable offences and penalties (www.wa.gov.au)

Helmets Required

Helmets are not just an accessory but a necessary shield against potential head injuries. A helmet can be the difference between a minor accident and a life-altering injury. Students are encouraged to select helmets that meet safety standards, fit well, and are worn correctly every time they ride.

Together, helmets and age restrictions form a dual layer of protection for our students. By following these guidelines, young riders can enjoy the benefits of eRideables while prioritizing their safety and the safety of those around them.

Remember, when it comes to eRideables, safety is not optional—it's essential.
