PFA Funding Allocation News

The PFA invited funding allocation proposals in late 2023 to help determine how best to allocate funds to support and enhance the education and welfare of the children at OHR.  Funds were allocated to provide new furniture needed to accommodate increased classroom sizes and student numbers, and to enhance the school playground with the addition of an imagination/sensory garden.  We are excited to share that the small yard which sits to the north of the library will shortly be repurposed to create this garden which has been designed to incorporate shop style cubby with Veranda, a Mud Kitchen and workbench with integrated gardens including a herb garden used for play.  A feature tree and a number of shrubs will be added for an additional boost of nature that the children can enjoy.  Thank you to Matt and Tarnya Herbert for their role in organising the concept drawings, and for coordinating with Erin Green who will oversee the area preparation and landscaping.

On Thursday 16th May, prep work and planting for the garden will be undertaken in preparation for the cubby and kitchen delivery the following week.  All work will be carried out while children are in class, and work will stop with impacted areas closed off during beginning of school, recess and lunch to ensure child safety.  We can't wait to see the children enjoying this amazing new play area, and a big thank you to the Herbert's for submitting this wonderful proposal and ongoing support in bringing the garden to fruition.
