EXPERIENCE LA TROBE DAY

Recently Year 10 students were given the opportunity to Experience La Trobe Mildura. Students were able to choose from several study areas, such as The Arts, Social Work, Nursing, Education and Business.

La Trobe Day was a day I will never forget! It’s my first look at Uni life. I knew this day would be amazing.

My experience was a positive one. Visiting the Mildura Campus and interacting with other people made it easier for me to understand my ideal courses, which I may want to study after finishing school.

I learnt so much from this day and the staff were amazing!

At the start of the day (Session 1) I had chosen to do the Nursing Workshop. I did not regret this workshop at all. I learnt all about doing CPR the right way and how to deal with confronting injuries.

After enjoying my food in the beautiful sun, my next workshop was The Arts.

The Arts Lecture was about “Critical Thinking” and how we can use a pen, other than just to write with. This session assisted me to expand and explore my ideas even further.

After all the workshops had finished, the Head of La Trobe Uni Mildura Campus came to talk to our Year 10 cohort about their selected Bachelor Degrees that they offer.

We then had the opportunity to ask questions and we all had lunch and shared our thoughts with others around us.

Overall, the day was very beneficial for me and I highly recommend other students to do the same, if they are interested in going to university or if they need an idea of what areas they most strongly wish to pursue in the near future.

Thank you to Ms Dimasi and Mrs Wilson for their organisation for this day to happen.
