DEPUTY PRINCIPAL, Learning & Teaching
Dear Parents /Guardians,
Welcome back to the start of term 2. I would like to thank you all for your participation in Student Parent Teacher Conferences, the three way partnership between student, parent and teacher is crucial in students development throughout the College. I hope students received feedback and they can set some goals for the term based on this feedback.
While it seems we have only started Term 2, exams will be upon Year 10 and 11 students soon and it would be good to start thinking about how to prepare for exams.
Year 10 and 11 Exams
All Year 10s will sit an English, Mathematics and Science Exam, in addition students who are studying French, Italian or Japanese or accelerating into a Unit 1 & 2 VCE subject will also have sit exams in these subjects. It is recommended that students start creating a study timetable and set aside an additional hour per week for each of these subjects to start preparing for the exams.
This week, the Year 11s had a session from the award winning Elevate Education about how to ace their exams. They should reflect on strategies they found successful in their Year 10 exams and improve on these as well as implementing some of the strategies they learned this week to start preparing for their exams. They should also be setting aside an additional hour per week for each of these subjects to start preparing for the exams.
The exam timetable and further information will be shared with students and parents in Week 5.
Acceleration
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind Year 9 and 10 students of the requirement of achieving an 85% average across their subjects if they would like to be considered for accelerating into a VCE subject in 2025.
