Celebrating Success and Scores

Success is visible in many ways in Year 9, not just in the classroom. The team of teachers working closely with these students would like to recognise those who have proudly participated in sporting competitions, music in the community, the recent Gippsland Technical School days, supported peers new to our year level, respected and shown interest in Year 7 students and really engaged in the Hands-on Learning Program to name a few.

Learning Behaviour Updates (LBUs) are just around the corner, Week 4. Year 9 students were reminded at the beginning of Term 2 and at each weekly assembly to reflect on their scores for each behaviour: Task Completion, On Time to Class, Participation, Preparation and Working Respectfully with Others.

At the end of Term 1, the below list of Year 9 students achieved an impressive score of 3.5 or higher out of a maximum score of 4.0:

Further recognition goes to students who have shown growth over Term One. Any growth in a score deserves a ‘Well done!’ These students developed and applied their knowledge and skills over the term. With this experience in mind, we look forward to the third round of scores for 2024.

Tech School

Wednesday 24th April year 9 students attended the Tech school to participate in ‘Extended Reality Content Design’. Students used technologies to achieve an Extended Reality outcome. They used virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality as an instrument to enhance real world scenarios and to learn how extended reality technologies fits as a tool for industry and community.

Art

Students have been exploring the effects of extreme weather on human settlements. They have been working in small groups to create 3D models of the effects. The groups are focusing on flooding, fires and tornado Megan.

In 3D art, students have been working on creating a 3D Medieval Helmet using a range of materials and paint.

In Concept art, students have been working on designing themed characters in a square grid before adding colours with either, colour pencils, acrylic paint or watercolour paint.
