Term 2

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope you were able to enjoy some extra time with family over the duration of the break. Term 2 has kicked off really positively, and staff are really keen to get back into the seeing of things.

Parent/Student/Teacher conversations

I just wanted to thank all the parents/carers and students that attended the parent/student/teacher conversations at the end of last term. Teachers really value the opportunity to connect with students and families, specifically, to discuss learning progress and areas of both strength and improvement. If you were unable to attend and would like the opportunity to chat to your child’s teachers, please make contact via the office or through Compass and we will arrange for you to be contacted directly.

KPA Shop

This term we have successfully launched our KPA shop, where students are able to cash in their Kurnai Positive Acknowledgement (KPA) points to purchase a range of different items. Students have loved it and we have sold a huge number of items over the first two weeks. The shop helps students to see an additional layer of motivation and to demonstrate positive behaviours in all settings of the school. I encourage you to chat to your child/students about the number of KPAs that they have accumulated and what they are able to spend these on.

Awareness Day

On Wednesday we had all of the grade 5 & 6 students from our local feeder Primary schools come and spend the day experiencing what it's like to be in a secondary setting. The day was a huge success, with many of our students supporting the younger students and helping them throughout the different classes. This was followed by the Parent Information evening that was also really well attended. As a campus we really love being able to showcase what Kurani has to offer potential students and their families. I would like to give a huge shout out to Erin Gruis the year 7 Team Leader for all her hard work in coordinating the day.

ANZAC Day

On Thursday morning we had our three school captains attend the Churchill Anzac Memorial Service where they laid a wreath and each individually gave a speech about what ANZAC day means to them. Claire, Harry and Arabella all did amazing speeches and represented Kurnai in an outstanding manner.

Year 10 Work Experience

In week 4 and 5 our year 10 students will all be out on work experience. I would like to wish them all the best and look forward to having conversations with students when they return, to hear how they went in the world of work.
