Wellbeing & Inclusion

Wellbeing Programs being offered

Emotional literacy is described as the ability to understand ourselves and other people. This includes the ability to understand, express, and manage our own emotions, build empathy, and to respond appropriately to the emotions of others.  Lysterfield Primary students focus on building their emotional vocabulary which helps increase emotional literacy, self-awareness, and empathy for others.

This is achieved through several programs. If you require further information about the amazing range of programs we offer, please reach out to me.

Friendology

Friendology lessons are well underway this year. Students are using the language of friendships to talk through any friendship fires.

When friendship fires occur, students are supported to work through the Friend-o-Cycle to restore friendships to a healthy stage. Students should be able to explain this process and hopefully use it when friendship fires occur at home. ;0

Parents and carers can further support students to build their empathy, tolerance, and resilience by accessing the UrStrong portal. Upskill yourself as a  ‘Friendship Coaches’ using the URSTRONG/Friendology Parent membership. Please use this LINK  https://urstrong.com/parents/

Student quote "I came to LPS late last year and have always had trouble with social situations and with making friends. The only reason I have friends at Lysterfield is because of the Wellbeing here – ‘specifically Friendology 101’. I wish we could have it more often. Here at Lysterfield, we have friendship fires but at my old school, we had friendship volcanos!!

Respectful Relationships (RR) and Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR)

Respectful Relationships are a whole-school approach and embeds a culture of respect and equity across our entire school community, from our classrooms to our staffrooms, sporting fields, social media, and social events.

As part of Respectful Relationships, throughout the school year, all students across our school engage in learning through the 8 units of the RRRR curriculum.  Year levels share fortnight the topics they are covering, so please keep abreast of the topics by reading the year-level newsletters.

Wellbeing Programs

We have several small group programs in place at Lysterfield to support the social and emotional well-being of our students. All programs are carefully matched to the student's needs and run for the duration of the term. If your child(ren) has been identified to participate in one of our many special programs you will be notified and given the opportunity to talk about the goals of the program.
