Our Foundation: a time to reflect

As GSG approaches its 26th birthday, it is fitting to take a moment to reflect on our school foundation.

Foundation Day is a time to recognise and honour our past, celebrate the present and begin the work of shaping an exciting future.

Recently, I expressed my gratitude to the School Council for their commitment to safeguarding this place; now and into the future. Schools like ours are born into existence and sustained through the strength and dedication of volunteers.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our founders, Dr Peter Pratten AM, the late Justice John Gilmour QC, the late Mrs Annette Knight AM, Rev Stephen Lee, Mrs Heather Malacari and her husband Arthur, the foundation staff and those first students of our school.

This Foundation Day we honour the contribution of all members of our community, both past and present for we collectively hold the traditions, values, aspirations and spirit of GSG.

From 37 students in 1999 to 653 today, may the 2024 Foundation Day continue to reignite the spirit of Great Southern Grammar and secure the futures of generations to come.
