Dear Parents and Carers,

Community Highlights: The Crazy Cake Sale!

What a wonderful day we had on Friday here at St Joseph’s!

The Crazy Cake Sale was a beautiful reflection of the amazing, vibrant community we share. The positivity and excitement in the morning as those creative, "crazy" inventions arrived was wonderful to see.

A massive thank you to the parents and community members who supported the cake stall after assembly. A huge thank you to the amazing Dom Taylor and our Earth Care leaders for organizing such a brilliant community event.

We raised $1500 dollars which is a fantastic amount to go towards our much needed bike shed.

This week, we focus on National Reconciliation Week (NRW), rallying behind the powerful theme of "All in!" NRW is a vital time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation. This theme highlights our deep collective need for active participation and RESPECT.

The core messages of this year's theme challenge us all to move:

  • Beyond Sympathy: "All In" is a direct call for all Australians to step away from the sidelines and commit to reconciliation in their everyday lives.
  • Toward Shared Responsibility: It emphasizes that advancing the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is a shared duty, not something solely shouldered by First Nations communities.
  • Into Everyday Action: It shifts the focus away from passive acknowledgement and toward active, continuous, and meaningful steps toward justice and inclusion.

May we always hold, respect, and honour the land our school is situated on, while actively promoting inclusivity, respect, and belonging. We are incredibly proud of the work we are doing at St Joseph’s to celebrate our First Nations people, ensuring our current generation of students grows up to respect, honour, and champion our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Firmly Committed to Child Safety: Standard 4

As part of our ongoing commitment to the Child Safe Standards, today we are highlighting Standard 4.

The Child Safe Standards are strict, mandatory guidelines that ensure organisations create safe environments where children and young people are protected from harm, deeply listened to, and respected.

At St Joseph’s, child safety is our absolute priority. We maintain rigorous leadership, clear policies, and unwavering procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every single child in our care.

The MACS Parent Code of Conduct & Our Parent Action Plan. MACS Child Safety Standard 4, which outlines how vital parents and families are in ensuring safe environments where children can flourish. To maintain this safe environment, all families must align with the MACS Parent Code of Conduct.

I want to remind all parents that we have a clear Parent Action Plan for resolving any issues or conflicts your child may be involved in.

To ensure the safety and emotional wellbeing of our students, both the MACS Code of Conduct and our Parent Action Plan clearly state that approaching a child who is not your own with a view to disciplining or questioning them about their behaviour is strictly unacceptable. Such matters are exclusively the responsibility of school staff.

We ask that you always follow the established action plan. If you ever have a concern regarding an incident or student behaviour, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at principal@sjcribpoint.catholic.edu.au.

Faith, Wellbeing, and Unconditional Positive Regard

Our faith and wellbeing focus for this week centres on celebrating the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit in our lives—specifically by showing resilience and choosing kindness in our daily interactions.

I want to thank our parents for the ongoing support and positive encouragement given to all students. At St Joseph’s, we hold unconditional positive regard for every single student in our care. We see the inherent value in every child, and we are firmly committed to ensuring that every student feels safe, valued, and empowered to shine and flourish every single day.
