Principal's Report:

John Monash Science School Regional Science Exchange 2026:
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Grace Carter, who has been selected to participate in the prestigious 2026 Regional Science Exchange Program at John Monash Science School.
This is a remarkable accomplishment, with more than 100 students applying and only 20 students selected across the state. Grace’s selection reflects her exceptional dedication and talent in science.
As part of the program, Grace will attend an intensive 6-day Science and Engineering Workshop in Melbourne, with all accommodation fully provided. During the program, she will work alongside other high-achieving students, participate in advanced scientific learning experiences and further develop her skills and passion for STEM.
Being chosen for this opportunity is a significant recognition of Grace’s hard work and commitment to learning. She should be proud of this achievement, and we are happy to see her representing Kerang Technical High School at such a high level.
Year 9 Murray Mallee VET Cluster's VET Taster Careers Expo:
Year 9 students attended a careers expo in Swan Hill, where they were provided with valuable opportunities to explore a wide range of VET study pathways on offer in the Murray Mallee region with the support of local industries showcasing the huge range of career pathways. The expo featured interactive, hands-on experiences, allowing students of all interests and abilities to engage in activities such as virtual welding and simulated building environments.
Our students demonstrated great enthusiasm and adaptability, embracing each opportunity to learn and participate. Once again, they upheld the high standards expected of Kerang Technical High School students, receiving numerous compliments on their conduct, behaviour and respectful engagement with exhibitors and peers.
Work Experience Continues for Year 10’s:
A cohort of 42 students is currently participating in a valuable work experience program, providing them with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the realities of the workplace. Feedback from employers has been overwhelmingly positive. Mr Henry, who has visited many of the students at their placements, reports that students are integrating well into their work environments and conducting themselves in a manner that reflects positively on both themselves and Kerang Technical High School.
This extended experience offers students a meaningful insight into working life, allowing them to develop practical skills, confidence, and a deeper understanding of workplace expectations. As the week has progressed, further feedback indicates that students are becoming increasingly comfortable in their roles, building positive relationships, asking thoughtful questions, and actively contributing to the productivity of their workplaces.
VET Cookery Students Cater for the Bus Stop
On Wednesday this week, our VCE Cookery students extended their learning beyond the classroom by connecting with the local community. As part of their assessment task, students planned and delivered a smorgasbord-style lunch for the dedicated volunteers at the local oportunity shop, affectionately known as the “Bus Stop.”
The menu showcased a diverse and delicious selection of homemade dishes, including tortillas, sausage rolls, bao buns and spring rolls. To finish, students prepared a range of sweet treats, such as mini meringues, cinnamon pinwheels and chocolate cake.
This experience provided students with an authentic opportunity to develop their skills in catering for a larger group, while also recognising and celebrating the valuable contributions of the "Bus Stop" volunteers. The volunteers were very appreciative of the thoughtful gesture and the opportunity to be acknowledged for their important work.
Overall, the event was a meaningful way to strengthen community connections and highlight the positive impact of our students beyond the school.
