From the Principal Leader

Dear students, staff, parents, carers, and friends of Chisholm,

On Monday, 25 May, correspondence was distributed to our College community advising that Mrs Tania Cairns has been seconded to St Andrews for a period of 15 weeks, concluding at the end of Term 3.

While we will certainly miss Mrs Cairns’ daily presence within our community during this time, we recognise this opportunity is a reflection of her dedication, leadership and commitment to Catholic education. We keep Mrs Cairns in our thoughts and prayers as she undertakes this important journey.

As a result of Mrs Cairns’ secondment, and with myself stepping into the role of Acting Principal Leader during this period, I would also like to warmly congratulate Mrs Jeanette Lans on her appointment as Acting Assistant Principal. Mrs Lans brings with her a wealth of experience, dedication and a deep commitment to the holistic education and wellbeing of our young women. I know our College community will join me in wishing her every success as she undertakes this leadership role.

I would also like to reassure our Chisholm community that Mrs Cairns will continue to work closely with the College on all matters relating to the planning and preparation of our Community for Term 4 and beyond into 2027. Her continued connection and commitment to the life of the College will ensure continuity and support as we look ahead with confidence and optimism.

As a faith-filled community, we are reminded of the words from Jeremiah 29:11:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

We thank Mrs Cairns for her ongoing service to our College and wish her every blessing during this period of secondment.

Further to this, this week has also been a wonderful opportunity for our College community to celebrate and reflect upon the life of the Church. On Pentecost Sunday, we celebrated the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, marking the official “birthday” of the Church and reminding us of the strength, courage and guidance the Holy Spirit provides in our daily lives.

Throughout the week, we also recognised the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, celebrated on the Monday following Pentecost, as well as preparing for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity - honouring the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Here at the College, these significant moments in the Church’s calendar have been acknowledged through extended prayer within Homeroom, our College assembly, and the praying of the Rosary throughout the month of May. These opportunities allow our young women to deepen their faith, strengthen their sense of community, and reflect upon the values of compassion, service and hope that underpin Catholic education.

Lastly, our annual Tell Them From Me survey has now been shared with families. We warmly welcome and encourage our community to utilise this platform to provide valuable feedback to the College http://tellthemfromme.com/qcb6h. The insights and data gathered through these surveys play an important role in informing the future planning, strategic direction, and goal setting of the College, ensuring we continue to grow and strengthen our commitment to providing the very best educational experience for our young women.
