National Sorry Day & Reconciliation Liturgy

Earlier this week, students across the school acknowledged National Sorry Day through morning prayer and classroom reflections. This provided an important opportunity for students to learn about and reflect on the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while recognising the importance of healing, reconciliation, and walking together with respect and understanding.

Today, our Year 5 and 6 students led the school in a beautiful Reconciliation Liturgy centred around the theme “Walking Together in Truth, Healing and Hope.” Through prayer, Scripture, song, and reflection, students were encouraged to consider how we can continue to build stronger relationships grounded in compassion, listening, and respect for all people.

As a Catholic community, Reconciliation Week reminds us of Jesus’ call to love one another and honour the dignity of every person as children of God. It is a time to reflect on how we can live out the Gospel values of justice, kindness, forgiveness, and peace within our school and wider community.

As part of their role as Fire Carriers, our Year 6 students continue to help keep the spirit of reconciliation alive within our school community by deepening their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and promoting respect, inclusion, and truth-telling. We thank our Year 5 and 6 students for leading this meaningful celebration so thoughtfully.
