Year 5/6 Raptors

The GS Raptors scored their first win of the season Thursday afternoon when they defeated the Pedare Hurricane 29-28. There was some confusion with the scores in the dying seconds, but as it turned out, Oscar’s free throw after the final buzzer secured the win.  Once again, the Raptors only had five players this week.  Well done to Oscar, Hadassah, Ronan, Heath and Jayden for pushing hard on the court and fighting out a courageous win.

Scorers: Jayden (20 pts), Oscar (9 pts)

GS Little Jordans

Little Jordans v CH Eagles. Score 4/11

Star players: Hirdey was so excited scoring his first basket. Well done! Gabriel was hungry for the ball this afternoon and played a vital defensive role in pressuring the opposition. All of the team demonstrated great team spirit sharing the ball around.

7&Under GS Stars

Another strong win for the GS Stars this week with the team really upping their skills in relation to leading and making space on the court. We practiced some on-court plays during training, learning where the different positions might lead from when our team has a sideline throw-in, and the team brought that learning into our game really well!

In the first half, Amelia and Macy got the team ahead, scoring well and sharing shots on goal. Poppy, Aniko and Matilda put up a strong defence, while Josh and Grace kept the ball moving quickly through the centre. Second half we switched positions around and Clara got into the game, bringing some excellent energy. Go Good Shepherd!!

Coach: Amanda Richardson

8&Under Thunder

A strong win for the Thunder team over CH Wolves this week. Proud of their team work, passing and defensive steals and rebounds. We welcomed Bodhi to the team for his first game and a goal. And high scores to Tyson and Austin.

Scorers: Tyson 12, Austin 10, Bodhi 2

SACSA Netball

Wednesday August 23rd 2023, a date for the GSPV history books.... The day that Good Shepherd Lutheran School entered not 1, but 2 Stage 4 teams into the annual SACSA carnival!

We had GSPV GOLD (Year 6) and GSPV SILVER (Year 5). The competition was tough and games went by so quickly. Players faced quick change overs and growing fatigue. Amazing growth and confidence continued as the day progressed, our newer players really got a hang of the rules and our experienced players really started gelling as a team.

Both teams finished the day on a high, winning their last game. A big thanks to all our parent helpers, driving, scoring and supporting we couldn't name them all. A shout out to Jason B, Peter M and Paul H. A special thanks to Bel N for leading up the GOLD team. A fabulous effort by all!

Signing off for this year,

Coach Harmer.
