The Success of R U OK? Day

R U OK? Day, a significant event dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being, was celebrated with great success at our school this year. The 9Life Community Arts team took the initiative to organise four engaging lunchtime activities, ensuring that our students had a memorable and impactful experience.

Lunchtime Activities

1. Badminton with Brian Yong

Brian Yong's dedication and enthusiasm shone brightly as he organised a thrilling Badminton session in our new stadium. This activity not only encouraged physical fitness but also provided students with an opportunity to connect and socialise. Brian's leadership and effort in making this activity a success are commendable.

2. Karaoke with Ally Vance, David Young, and Chrissy Walshe

The Hope Centre came alive with the sounds of music and laughter thanks to Ally Vance, David Young, and Chrissy Walshe, who organised an entertaining Karaoke session. Their combined efforts created a safe and welcoming environment where students felt free to express themselves through song. This activity played a vital role in promoting self-expression and relieving stress.

3. Dance with Danielle Growse

The Performing Arts Centre (PAC) was transformed into a dance haven under the guidance of Danielle Growse. Her leadership in organising a vibrant dance session allowed students to unleash their creativity and passion for movement. The positive energy generated during this activity was palpable, contributing to the overall success of R U OK? Day.

4. Mindfulness Activities with Siobhan Nichol and Anne-Maree Hatfield

Siobhan Nichol and Anne-Maree Hatfield provided a serene and calming experience with their mindfulness activities in J11. Their expertise in promoting mindfulness and emotional well-being was invaluable in helping students learn relaxation techniques and coping strategies. This session emphasised the importance of mental health and self-care.

Student Involvement

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the students who actively participated in these lunchtime activities. Your engagement and enthusiasm were instrumental in making R U OK? Day a resounding success. Your willingness to embrace the spirit of the event and support your peers in their journey towards better mental health is truly commendable.

R U OK? Day at our school was a remarkable success due to the dedication, passion, and hard work of the 9Life Community Arts team and the active involvement of our students. These activities not only fostered a sense of community but also promoted mental health awareness and well-being among our student body. We look forward to building on this success in the future and continuing our efforts to create a supportive and empathetic school environment. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this memorable day.
