Waste Audit

An idea brought to discussion by students at Heathmont Talks has recently been the addition of recycling bins to the school. This idea has been entirely student driven and on the 23rd of August, five students from years 11, 10 and 7 conducted a waste audit on a bin from just outside the canteen to see what portion of the waste thrown out could be recycled. And out of the 87 litres sorted through, 45% of the contents could be recycled. Recycling bins being added throughout the college would be a major positive for the school’s output to landfill. A big thank you to Evie, Maddie, Amy, Tyler and Ms. Constance for helping out and thank you to Jessica from Envirocom for running the audit.
