CBCA Book Week, Book Exchange, Shelfies, What I like about my library.....
Heathmont Library was buzzing with excitement during Book Week.
We kicked things off with a visit from Wally, the beloved character everyone tries to find. Students eagerly searched for him in the library catalogue. The next day, students played a visual clue game and matched book images with settings around the world. On Wednesday, they competed in a word game, and on Thursday we had parent-teacher interviews. We ended the week with a game called "Name that Classic."
Throughout the week, we were thrilled to see so many students actively participating in the various competitions. Whether they formed teams or tackled the challenges alone, their enthusiasm was contagious. We want to give a big round of applause to all the students who made the effort to come in and be a part of this special week.
We also had a prize draw with over 145 entrants. Congratulations to the winners, Lewis and Addison, and to Kaiya who won the main prize.
Thank you to all who joined us for Book Week at the library. It was a joy to see students and staff engaged in a variety of literacy games, all within the vibrant setting of our library.
The library had a successful book exchange during book week and beyond, with students having the opportunity to take new books or old favourites home to keep. We had a healthy number of books available to pick and choose from, spanning many genres. We encouraged students to pick out things they wouldn’t normally read to expand their reading interests, with some students even picking up thesauruses to further assist with their language and literacy skills!
Most of these book faces are hiding staff, can you guess who is behind the book?
We asked students to contribute their thoughts on Heathmont Library:
"The library is a great place for everyone to make friends".
"My best yard duty is in the library; staff are happy and jolly".
"I like the book selection".
"The library is a fun relaxing place to be, the librarians are kind and always take care of the library".
"Miss Ahles is the best and that's why the library is the best".
With the completion of the PRC early September, congratulations again to Madison for completing and winning the book challenge!
