 YEAR 7 INDONESIAN COOKING 

This term, year 7 Indonesian students learnt about Indonesian food and cooking.  They then worked in groups to research on a selected food to prepare at home. They learnt to describe the ingredients and cooking steps in Indonesian, and finally created amazing cooking videos. Hebat sekali kelas 7!

“I really loved learning about Indonesian food and enjoyed cooking Rendang. I learnt to describe the ingredients and cooking steps in Indonesian. The meat dish tasted delicious”,

“This cooking task was a fun project and a good learning process. It was fun to work in my group to research, plan, shop for the ingredients, cook the nasi goreng and film it”,

“We learnt to write ingredients and cooking steps for Nasi goreng. We then shopped for the ingredients and cooked them together, speaking in Indonesian with English subtitles. It was a fun and amazing group project. We learnt so much about Indonesian food and eating places”,

Victorian Young Leaders Indonesian Program 

This term, some of our year 9 Indonesian students participated in the Victorian Young Leaders' program, organised by DET, Melbourne University and the Asia Education Foundation. In this immersive 3-week online program, students were placed into classes with Indonesian language teachers and University of Melbourne undergraduate student mentors. Through this program, students further developed their Indonesian language skills, understanding of culture and connected with students across Victoria and Indonesia.
