Year 4 Incursion

On Wednesday Year 4 had a planetarium incursion. We learnt and discovered all about space in a huge inflatable dome. A man named Mark explained all about day and night and where the sun sets and rises depending on the seasons. He showed us how the earth moves around the sun and why one side of the moon can’t be seen. We learnt all the different colours that the moon can change into. Two of the names that we learnt were the ‘blood moon’ and the ‘super blue moon’. We had a look at how the planets rotate around the sun and that Jupiter has over 100 moons around it! He talked about there being more life very far away from earth and how there could be aliens living there.

At the end of the session we watched a movie about climate change and all of the negative things that it can do to our earth. The movie also explained how we can help stop climate change. We could do things like ride our bikes more and reduce our greenhouse gas use. We had so much fun learning about climate change and how the solar system works!
