Celebrating National and International Events!

In the last few weeks the Learning and Discovery Centers at both campuses have been celebrating some fantastic National and International events. These events have highlighted the important work of our college in bringing a depth and richness in our curriculum; particularly in literacy, science and sport. These events have certainly endorsed our St. Peter’s theme of ‘Let Your Light Shine!’ (Matthew 5.16).

Go Matildas! FIFA Women's World Cup 2023

The LDC‘s at both campuses have followed the extraordinary skill, perseverance and game-changing achievements of our Matilda’s world class soccer team in the Women’s FIFA World Cup. The Matilda’s are an inspiration to all that women can achieve - in sport and in life!

Craig Forster said it all in the Guardian this week:

“They [The Matildas] ... have overturned misconceptions of women’s sport and more importantly, the place of women in contemporary Australia.

They've forced their way to the front through their extraordinary capability, courage and refusal to accept less than everything women deserve and demand that this is where women should be.”

Go Matilda’s and go girls in sport!

Science Week 2023

The school theme for National Science Week in 2023 is Innovation: Powering Future Industries. The theme incorporates the advancement in technology in all industries, especially using artificial intelligence (AI).

The curriculum focus of the theme is on:

  • Science as a Human Endeavour
  • Chemical Sciences
  • Physical Sciences
  • Earth and Space Sciences, and
  • Biological Sciences.

The Science faculties have provided both fun and inspiration this week through quizzes for teachers and students, intriguing Escape Rooms and an ‘extravaganza’ of exciting demonstrations, experiments and class activities.

Book Week 2023

At St. Peter’s we celebrated our Book Week from 31st July to the 4th of August. The 2023  Book Week theme is 'Read Grow Inspire'.

What does this theme mean to the St. Peter’s Community?

We believe that when we READ we GROW in our understanding of our world; as we become INSPIRED and enlightened by the myriad of experiences, ideas and mysteries reflected in personal and fictional stories. Our Book Week activities entreated us all to become empowered to a greater awareness of ourselves and our world.

'Reading Inspiration Trees' at each campus LDC, encouraged students and staff to help grow our 'bare tree' display by filling in the leaves with books and authors that have inspired them to read and why. Our reading trees at both campuses certainly grew plenty of inspirational leaves, giving testimony to our mantra, ‘At St. Peter’s we read!’
