From the Principal

Head of Primary School

I’m delighted to inform the community that Mrs Leah Field has been appointed to the role of Head of Primary School. Leah is an outstanding educator who has strong connections to our school and local community. Leah is currently acting Head of Primary School and has been with the GSG community since 2013. We congratulate Leah on her appointment.

Radio Active

Our Year Eleven and Twelve students performed in front of a sold-out Entertainment Centre audience on Friday evening. The performance was outstanding, leaving a lasting impression of how talented the music students from Great Southern Grammar and the region are. With limited rehearsal, our students combined with WAAPA students in a number of seamless combined performances. Students relished the opportunity to perform with WAAPA students, in front of a large audience in a world-class auditorium. Ms Emma Luxton and Mr Joe Fowler were delighted with the students’ performances, and we acknowledge the dedication of our music staff to coordinating such a successful event.

Small Gestures

In a gesture of gratitude our School Captains, Stella and Pierce, presented each Year Twelve with a pen, personal message and sprigs of lavender. The meaning behind the gift was one of thanks. Small gestures go a long way in acknowledging other people who have supported each other. A wonderful example for their peers.

Book Week and Science Day - 'Read, Grow, Inspire'

With the intention of deeper understanding of the world around us, and due to Book Week and Science Day occurring simultaneously, we decided to extend the theme of 'Read Grow Inspire' across both. Upon reflection, the combined approach enhanced the theme for our students, and the variety of activities lead to improved learning. Congratulations to Ms Elinor Couper and Mrs Fiona Gouldthorp who coordinated these valuable experiences for our students.

AMEB Award

Congratulations to Matthew Walmsley (Year Twelve) who has achieved the nationally recognised Gold Award as part of the Australian Music Examinations Board Award Program. This award acknowledges Matthew’s commitment to the Performing Arts community of GSG, his engagement in ensembles, productions, and other collaborative activity under the tutelage of his music teachers, whilst advancing his skill development through an internationally recognised program. Well done, Matthew.
