Prep

Dear Prep families,

I can't believe the Prep students have already completed two terms at school. It has been truly delightful to witness their growth and development of new skills. We're nearing the 100 Days of Prep celebration in August, and the students are eagerly anticipating it. For those traveling during the holidays, please take care and have a safe journey. I hope the Preps enjoy a well-deserved rest and return refreshed and ready for Term 3.

Maths

The Preps explored different ways to make and record small doubles through storybooks, mirrors, and various concrete materials.

This week, the students compared the lengths of two objects and measured the lengths of objects using informal measurement units. They also compared and described objects using language, such as tall, short, and long. The Prep measured objects around the classroom using informal units of measurements such as hand and palm spans and digits.

Literacy

In IntiaLit, the Preps are learning to write sentences using familiar tricky words and sounds to write CVC words. This week, the letter 'd' and sound/d/were introduced. They identified the /d/ sound at the beginning and end of words.

During the week, the students listened to and responded to the story Thunderstorm Dancing. The focus vocabulary words from the story are pounding, twirling, and gleaming. We discussed the meanings and acted out the words. In addition, the Preps recalled the main ideas from the story and made connections to their experiences of thunderstorms.

Education in Faith

The Preps created Heart Helping Hands after listening to the parable of the Good Samaritan. The students discussed what the parable teaches us, and together, they brainstormed words to describe how they can show others love, respect, and kindness. Later in the week, the Prep retold the parable using puppets and narrating the story.
