Message from the Principal

Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,

Thank you to the many parents who came to assembly on Monday but who also stayed and supported the Junior School Council’s efforts in the Bake sale to raise money for State Schools’ Relief. Thank you also to the families who supported this with a gold coin donation for ‘crazy hair / free dress day’.

Local Celebrities!

Many of you may have seen two of our students, Mack and Cody, featured in the winter edition of Nillumbik News. They were showcasing the freshly painted cubbies at the Eltham North Adventure Playground. They are certainly a popular attraction!

Community Connections

Those of you who have been connected with the school for a period of time will remember our very popular and meaningful ‘Community Help ELO’ where we visited St Vincent’s Healthcare Eltham retirement village with groups of students. This came to a complete standstill during the main COVID years and has taken several years to get back on track. I am very pleased to report, that after a meeting earlier this week, we have the green light to recommence our connections and visit again as the year unfolds. We won’t have our ELOs in term 3 due to concert but this is an activity we will be wanting to recommence as soon as we can!

Staff Update

This week the school thanked and farewelled two leaving staff members, Mrs Margie Haynes, one of our Education Support staff, and Mr Matt O’Callaghan, one of our Year 3 teachers. Thank you to you both for your efforts and care with the children at EEPS and we wish you both the very best with your future endeavours. We welcome back Ms Rachel Schopf who will take over in Year 3 next term. The school is currently conducting the recruitment process for an additional Education Support staff member.

Student Artwork

Well done to the students who completed a piece of artwork for our recent competition. If you are around over the next couple of days, please take a moment to have a look at the display in Level 2, there are some outstanding pieces. Thank you to everyone involved.

School Improvements

I have written before about our strong commitment to continuous school improvement, and I think our really positive school review was a testament to this. Yesterday afternoon our teaching staff had a very successful ‘Connect and Reflect’ Professional Learning session to share the good work of our Professional Learning Communities during this term. We are also looking forward to a new PLC cycle in term 3. We will be using our knowledge and understanding around reviewing barriers to learning success that EEPS has developed in conjunction with Department Regional staff.

Thank you

It has been a busy term with two camps, a first prep excursion, swimming, concert auditions, tree planting, the ANZAC day service, JSC fundraising activities, new staff, reports, social learning workshops, interschool sport, a school review and lots of enriching and engaging opportunities for the students.

I would like to thank all members of the EEPS community - students, staff and parents and carers for your support of our wonderful school this term. Please remember that school finishes at 2.30 this Friday!

I look forward to seeing everyone back after a winter holiday recharge on Monday 15th July.

Safe holidays.
