Around the School

NAIDOC Assembly

This morning we held a brief assembly to celebrate and acknowledge NAIDOC week which was held in the second week of the school holidays. As part of our beginning of term work, we have spent time looking at First Nation's history, culture and achievements. Bu Ferguson has done an exceptional job leading schoolwide initiatives to develop a greater depth of understanding and awareness of the indigenous culture and the vast cultural diversity represented within our community. The below images are of the Mynong Yam Daisy, a plant of significance to the Wadawurrung people that was once prolific in our region.

Celebration Of Learning - Term 2

In the final week of term 2 we welcomed families to our 'Celebration of Learning' at school. This event was a wonderful opportunity to witness the incredible creativity and hard work of our students as they showcased their work centered around our semester one concept of 'Story'.

Cultural Diversity Term 2

In Term 2 our junior students learnt about the cultures we are lucky enough to have in our school community and how our diverse backgrounds contribute to our collective story. The students were lucky enough to have some of our parents and grandparents visit to share their culture and were so excited to learn about these diverse cultures and experiences.

BADAC Incursion - Juniors

Last term our Juniors invited Chris, Aaron and Tristan from BADAC to run an indigenous art workshop. The students learnt about traditional symbols and created a collaborative art piece.

Swap Shop Term 2 - Celebrating Success.

Our Environmental Captains are thrilled to share the success of our recent Swap Shop event. This initiative aimed to promote sustainability and community spirit by providing a platform for students to exchange their unwanted clothing items.

The Swap Shop was a resounding success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation and generosity of our students. Many brought in items of clothing they no longer needed, contributing to a more sustainable approach to fashion. It was heartening to see so many students embrace the opportunity to give new life to gently-used clothes.

Tutus proved to be particularly popular amongst our younger students!.

It was truly heartwarming to see how simple acts of giving and sharing could bring such happiness to our school community.

Together, we are fostering a culture of sustainability and community engagement that will continue to thrive.

School Wide Positive Behaviours

Our expectations for behaviour are based on our understanding and belief that all people should be treated with RESPECT and we have a RESPONSIBILITY towards the SAFETY of both ourselves and others.  It is the RESPONSIBILITY of everyone in our school community to ensure that others feel both SAFE and RESPECTED.

We show RESPECT OUTSIDE when we

  • use the equipment for its intended purpose.
  • put rubbish in the bin.
  • look after everything in our yard.
  • check the rules before joining a game.
  • recognise that all have the same right to equipment and spaces in the yard.

We show RESPONSIBILITY  when we

  • keep our property in the right place.
  • put things away.
  • stop playing when the music begins

We promote SAFETY when we

  • wait in the shelter after the 3:15 bell.
  • move in a way that keeps everyone safe.
  • use the play spaces safely.

These senior students were also caught being RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE and SAFE while playing in our schoolyard this week.
