Art with Nicole & Emily

Class 3/4

Students in our 3/4 class have been delving into the world of bugs.  They have been looking at their body shapes, body structure and colours. In combination with this students have been learning basic sitching. The children set out drawing the bugs that took their interest mapping out a design to draw on some cork tiles.

Today we were joined by Phil from The Mens Shed to help us drill some holes into cork squares around the bug design.  Phil bought in a few power drills and several hand drills which the children were quite facinated by, along with an assortment of drill bits/sizes. Working through trial and error figuring out how many wholes are needed to be drilled, foreward thinking about using 1 whole for multiple threads for details and the distance between each whole.

Students then could start to stitch their cork boards and showcase their backstitch they have been learning about as well.

Mural

Our art mural has had some additions this week from our 5/6 cohort.  I'm informed it's very close to finished, just a few more elemets to stencil on.
