Sacred Heart Swimming Program

This week our Year 3 students will have their final swimming lesson. Thanks to the parents who assisted with the Year 3 swimming program. 

A big thank you to Heather and her swimming instructors who have worked hard each week to improve the swimming skills of our students at Sacred Heart. Thanks also to the teachers who have supported the swimming program. Well done to all involved.

 

Colac Division Soccer

Congratulations to the boys who competed in the Greater Western Regional Soccer Championships last Thursday at Wendouree West Recreation Reserve. The boys played very well and had two draws and three wins which made them Runners-up on the day. This was a fantastic achievement. A big thank you to David Coventry and Tyson Finn who coached the boys on the day. Thanks to the parents/grandparents who supported the day. 

 

Greater Western Football Championships

Good luck to our boys who will compete at the Greater Western Football Championships tomorrow Wednesday 26th June at Gordon Street Recreation Reserve in Ararat. We wish them all the best. Boys are reminded that the bus will leave the St Mary’s Church Carpark at 7:30am SHARP. Please be there at 7:20am. Bus will return to St Mary’s Church Carpark at 4:30pm. Boys will need to wear their sports uniform and bring along their football gear e.g. football shorts, socks, mouth guards, football boots etc. Jumpers will be supplied. Students also need to bring along their water bottle, fruit, snacks and lunch. Extra clothes may be needed (please watch the weather forecast).

Greater Western Netball Championships

Congratulations to our two teams (Boys and Girls) that qualified to compete at the Greater Western Regional Netball Championships last Friday at Colac Eastern Reserve. Both teams played very well on the day against some very strong competition. The boys were the overall winners in their competition and will now compete in the State Boys Netball Championships on Wednesday 18th September at Waverley Netball Centre. The girls were runners-up on the day, being defeated by only a few goals against St Joseph’s PS, Warrnambool. 

Thanks to Jess Williamson, Lennie Laurie, Audrey Foley, Kieley Green, Jonathan Hay and Emily Montano for umpiring on the day. A very big thank you to Sally Montano for coaching the girl’s team and to Cody McNamara for her help with running the day. Thanks also to parents and grandparents who supported the day.

Geelong Cats Visit

Last Wednesday the AFLW Geelong Cats players visited our school as part of their Community Camp. Our Year 3 and 4 students were involved in a Question and Answers session with the players. Students also had the opportunity to have their football gear signed by the players. We would like to thank the AFLW Cats players for their visit. Their talk was very inspiring for our students. 

Years 3 and 4 Sports Afternoon

This Thursday 27th June our students in Year 3 and 4 will get together at 12:30pm for a sports session. The students will play one of the following sports – football, netball, soccer and mixed games. Students will need to wear their sports uniform. They may bring along appropriate gear for their sport e.g. football boots etc.

Name:  Bodhi McKay (Yr 6LG) 

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are basketball, football and soccer.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? Basketball is my favourite sport.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Basketball is my favourite sport to play because I like playing the game with my friends.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I got my first goal in basketball.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is that I can throw the ball accurately to my team mates.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I get to play with my friends and it gets me out of the house.

7. Who is your favourite sports person?  My favourite sports person is NBA basketballer LeBron James.

8. Why are they your favourite?  LeBron James is my favourite player because he is very talented and has excellent skills.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Los Angeles Lakers.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach would describe me as a hard-working player, who is friendly and someone who passes the ball well to my team mates.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is football.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Football is my favourite sport because you get to kick goals and play the game with friends.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I got the MVP (most valuable player) medal.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strength in sport is my speed.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I like to keep active and I like playing with my friends.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Zac Merrett for Essendon.

8. Why are they your favourite? Merrett is my favourite player because he is fast and he is a good kicker.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is Essendon.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a speedy forward player and a good team mate who never gives up.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are soccer, football and basketball.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is basketball.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Basketball is my favourite sport because it is fun and I love playing the game with my friends and my family.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I shot a three pointer in basketball.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my speed with running.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo.

8. Why are they your favourite? Ronaldo is my favourite player because he is one of the best soccer players in the world.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is Manchester City soccer team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a very good player but sometimes a ‘hog’.
