Pentecost day - celebrating diversity and inclusion

Pentecost is a special time in the Christian calendar marking 50 days since the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday.  The Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:1-31) details the followers of Jesus gathering together to celebrate the Feast of Weeks (Shauvot) and the Holy Spirit descending as a mighty rushing wind and tongues of fire onto those gathered. Baptised by the Holy Spirit the followers of Jesus began talking in many languages and were now able to spread the Good News of salvation throughout the world.

At St Thomas the Apostle we are a community which represents speakers of many languages looking to dialogue with each other. Students were encouraged to wear clothing that represented their self identified culture and share with others. The colours, beautiful designs and pride exhibited by the children reflects the positivity and joy of the Pentecost event.
