Inquiry

Over the next fortnight we will investigate into different places and climate zones, answering the question; Why is heat important for life on Earth? Weaved throughout this will be our Habits of Mind; Managing Impulsivity and Finding Humour.

Wellbeing

Our students will be tracking their emotions throughout a day and analysing times where they may have benefitted from using a particular strategy to ensure they make their way back to being 'Ready to Learn'. They will further investigate a variety of scenarios and decide together how to move through each scenario in appropriate ways, the strategies that can be used and the people they can seek help from if needed.

Important Notes

Soccer Pitch

The soccer pitch is a popular place for our Grade 4 students and to ensure each and every one has a successful recess and lunch we have created a timetable. This timetable allows students to play with a variety of different friends and encourages them to seek alternative play areas and foster positive friendships. The students have been shown this timetable and we are very proud of the mature way they have approach this change. Although at times there is an ES staff member on the soccer pitch before school, we highly encourage all students to play elsewhere as the pitch is very muddy and wet in the mornings.

Staffing Update

We are excited to announce that Mr. Salter will be rejoining our school after his brief stint at Cowes Primary School this year. Unfortunately, Mr. Ross will be leaving Skye at the end of this term to return to Hampton Primary School, where he holds an ongoing position. Mr. Salter will take full control of 4A from Thursday, 6th June. In the meantime, we will focus on ensuring a smooth transition for the class with a thorough handover. We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Ross for his contributions to our school community this year and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Maths afternoon

WOW! What a fun afternoon we had with you all. I'm sure you are all pros at playing 'Terminator 2' now. Maths games play a pivotal role in schools as they foster an environment where children can cultivate confidence and engagement in their learning journey. By participating in such games, students develop positive attitudes towards learning, as they experience both challenge and success, instilling a sense of accomplishment. If you have kept your booklet, we encourage you to continue to play these maths games with your children, if you would like access to the booklet, please let us know and we can arrange another copy for you.

We hope you enjoyed the experience as much as we did.

Hoop Time

Last Thursday, Year 3 and 4 students attended the Hoop Time Basketball Tournament at Frankston Basketball Stadium. Skye Primary were represented by 4 mixed teams and it was awesome to see students with a range of basketball experience have such fun time playing, learning  and supporting each other throughout the day. The enthusiasm and team spirit on display was infectious! Big thanks to The Skye Sonics for supplying the team uniforms, all the parents that helped and attended and to Mr. Jackson for organising the day.
