2025 Subject Selection

Term 2 has continued at a rapid pace with our students engaging in a range of curricular and extra-curricular activities throughout this term. Whilst the College’s recent focus was to welcome our future Year 7 students and their families to our College 2025 Discovery Evening, we now turn towards the final preparation for the 2025 Subject Selection Showcase Evening, held at the College Hall on Tuesday 21st May 2024.  The evening will focus on providing additional information regarding the Subject Selection process for students from Years 8-11.

The 2025 Subject Selection Process is a great opportunity for students and parents/carers to attend and obtain information on the subjects offered by the College. Although students will attend a year level specific presentation during the school day to introduce the subject selection process, our evening will enable students and parents/carers to explore subject options through dialogue with learning leaders and specialist teachers.

The Subject Selection Showcase Evening sessions include:

Years 8 and 9 Students - 5:30pm to 6:30pm

Years 10 and 11 Students - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Our Subject Selection Handbook will also be launched next Tuesday providing a forum for students to explore the diverse range of subjects offered throughout our broad curriculum. This interactive resource also assists students, with the support of their families/carers, in selecting a learning pathway and subjects that will challenge their inquisitive minds and assist them to reaching their goals and aspirations.

We are committed to preparing our students for the subject selection process. We offer the Subject Selection Expo during Term two and the Subject Selection Interviews for Year 9 and Year 10 students in Term Three. These events are invaluable opportunities for our Careers and Pathways Coordinator, Learning Area Leaders, and Subject Specialists to provide additional guidance and ensure our students are well-informed about our diverse subject offerings and learning pathways available.

We strongly encourage you to seek information, guidance and support from all available sources, including trusted family friends and community members with interesting careers. Their personal career journeys throughout their schooling years can provide valuable insights.

We look forward to welcoming you to the College next Tuesday.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

  • year of schooling
  • category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
  • level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.

This information assists schools to:

  • formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
  • consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
  • develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy(https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).

Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).

If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact Peter Coghlan  - Learning Adjustment Leader or Theresa Sloan – Learning Adjustment Administration if you require any further information.
