Staff Spirituality Day
On May 15 the staff of Marist-Sion College combined with the staff of Catholic College Sale and Lavalla Catholic College at the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre for a day of spiritual development.
Professor Amy-Jill Levine not only educated and informed but entertained staff while developing our deep understanding of the Jewish links to our Christian understanding of the Gospels and prayer.
The day supported our combined charisms with the Marist Life Formation Team hosting Amy-Jill on her tour and the Sion Formation Team and Sisters of Our Lady of Sion in attendance.
Spiritual development opportunities are a unique offering that Catholic schools offer their staff. Much like a retreat for students, we get to slow down, be present with each other away from the regularities of school life and engage with our faith and intellect.
Professor Amy-Jill Levine is a Jewish woman who is an expert New Testament scholar. What she brings to her work is the intimate knowledge of Judaism and so she can breathe life into scripture and culture, making Jesus more real to each of us.
