IGSA Cross Country

The Kambala team performed exceptionally well with our girls giving their all for their school. Over half the team improved their results from 2023 with Elsie Paton improving an amazing 68 spots!  Our new Year 7’s had great results in the 12-and-13 years section and the team consolidated its spot as a top ten school coming in another spot higher in 8th place out of 30 IGSA schools.

It was gratifying to see how well led the team was by our current year 12 competitors. The 18 years girls ran 6kms and definitely appreciated the whole team cheering them in as they finished. Erin Allison was the team Captain and the girls were coached by Jason, Hunt and Old Girls Allegra McGivern and Lucy Alder. Allegra McGivern has just been selected to represent Australia at the upcoming World Junior Athletics Championships in the 3000m Steeplechase.

The top performers who will be named in the IGSA team for the NSWCIS Championships were Aria Calbro 5th 12 years, Talia Gamerov 12th 14 years, Claudia McKee 7th 16 year and Gabriella Gamerov 7th 18 years.

Years 5 and 6 Touch Clinics

With the weather clearing up for Saturday sport the Junior School Touch Clinics went ahead on the Kambala oval. Under the expert tutelage of head coaches Brandon and Paul the girls will continue to develop their Touch Football skills in a fun and supportive environment. The aim is to prepare them for the IPSHA competition which begins in Term 3. The girls learn the basics of passing and catching, but also learn more complicated skills such as driving and scooping. We can’t wait to see their skills develop each week.

Year 3 Netball

The first week of Year 3 Netball was played in very chilly conditions but that certainly didn’t affect the girls’ excitement, for what was the first ever game of netball for many of the students. Well done to all players and coaches as it was very clear to people watching that all the teams have a great understanding of the many intricate rules of Netball and work really well together. After such a great first week we are looking forward to seeing the girls continue to improve their skills and teamwork.
