Our garden is bursting with new growth, fresh produce and plenty of exciting learning opportunities. Students have been busy getting their hands dirty by preparing the garden beds with compost, planting beans and tomatoes and also propagating rosemary.

In the Kitchen students worked hard to create a delicious Asian inspired feast. Fresh cabbage and greens, harvested straight from our garden were used to create Chow Mein, Chinese Sesame Flatbread and Asian Greens.  If you would like to try these recipes at home here they are.

Year 3 and 4 students have been learning about what chickens need to survive, stay healthy and be happy. They explored the basic needs of chickens, including nutritious food, fresh water, secure shelter and enough space to move around comfortably.

Students enjoyed investigating our own chicken enclosure, identifying what works well and suggesting ways we could make it even better.

Over the coming weeks, students will put on their designer hats as they research, brainstorm, plan, create and test their ideas for improving the enclosure. I’m looking forward to seeing their creativity and problem solving skills in action.

Students in Years 5 and 6 have been exploring how farm grown produce can be transformed into products ready for sale. They have learnt about onion and tomato farming and followed recipes and food preparation techniques to create delicious pickled onions and tomato relish.

Students will be using their creativity and planning skills to design and organise all aspects of a school stall to sell their products. Stay tuned for more information about when our delicious products will be available to purchase!
