Dear Families,

CELEBRATING 100 DAYS OF LEARNING IN FOUNDATION!

One of the most anticipated and heartwarming celebrations on our school calendar was the Foundation students' 100 Days of School celebration. Reaching 100 days of learning is a significant milestone for our youngest students, marking an incredible journey of growth, confidence and achievement since they first walked through the gates of Moorabbin Primary School. The excitement throughout the day was contagious, with students proudly dressing up to celebrate the occasion, showcasing wonderful creativity, humour and enthusiasm. The dressing up theme was 'what you want to be when you grow up, our Foundation classrooms were filled with smiles, laughter and excitement.

The celebration was made even more special by welcoming parents, grandparents and other family members into our school to share this important milestone with the children. Families joined students in a variety of engaging learning activities that highlighted just how much our Foundation students have achieved in their first 100 days of school. Throughout the morning, classrooms were buzzing with hands-on experiences centred around the number 100, including counting collections, creative art activities, writing tasks, games and collaborative challenges. It was wonderful to see the pride on our students' faces as they eagerly shared their learning, classroom routines and growing independence with those who have supported them every step of the way.

The 100 Days of School celebration is much more than a fun dress-up day it is an opportunity to recognise the remarkable progress our Foundation students have made academically, socially and emotionally. In just 100 school days, they have developed new friendships, built resilience, grown in confidence, learned countless new skills and embraced the joys of school life. We congratulate every Foundation student on this wonderful achievement and extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated Foundation teachers and education support staff for creating such a memorable celebration. Thank you also to our families for joining us and helping make this milestone such a meaningful occasion. We look forward to watching our youngest learners continue to flourish throughout the remainder of the year.

2026 NAPLAN Results

We are pleased to share that our Year 3 and Year 5 students recently received their 2026 NAPLAN results. NAPLAN is one of many assessment tools used to monitor student progress in literacy and numeracy and provides valuable information that helps schools identify areas of strength and future improvement.

Our staff have carefully analysed the results alongside classroom assessment data to celebrate student achievements and identify priorities for ongoing teaching and learning. We congratulate all of our Year 3 and Year 5 students for the effort and resilience they demonstrated throughout the assessment period. We also thank our dedicated teachers and families for their continued support in helping every child achieve their personal best. We look forward to continuing our focus on high-quality teaching and learning to ensure every student continues to grow and succeed.

Please see below the results of our Mathematics, Reading and Writing results. Our students have worked hard and achieved above the state and similar schools in all the tests. Well done to our students, staff and our wider community as this work takes place when we all work together.

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO OUR PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE AND SCHOOL COMMUNITY

A sincere thank you to our incredible Moorabbin Primary School Parents & Friends (P&F) Committee, our dedicated parent volunteers and the many members of our school community who generously gave their time to support our recent Bunnings BBQ fundraiser.

From the early morning set-up through to cooking the barbecue, serving customers, restocking supplies and packing everything away at the end of the day, the event was a true team effort. Fundraising events such as these require an enormous amount of planning and organisation behind the scenes, and we are incredibly fortunate to have such a committed group of volunteers who continually step forward to support our school. Your willingness to give up your weekend for the benefit of our students is genuinely appreciated.

The success of the Bunnings BBQ is a wonderful reflection of the strong community spirit that exists at Moorabbin Primary School. Every sausage sold, every drink served and every conversation shared contributes towards enhancing the opportunities and resources available to our students. These fundraising efforts help support projects, programs and initiatives that directly benefit our children and enrich their school experience. On behalf of our staff, students and wider school community, thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, purchased a sausage or simply stopped by to show their support. Your generosity, enthusiasm and commitment continue to make a meaningful difference, and we are incredibly grateful to have such an engaged and supportive school community. Total monies raised was: $2,636.90!

YEAR 4 TREE SURFING ADVENTURE

Our Year 4 students recently participated in an exciting Tree Surfing outdoor adventure as part of our school's Outdoor Education Program. Despite the wet and challenging weather conditions, our students demonstrated outstanding resilience, determination and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. Climbing, balancing and navigating the aerial courses required courage, teamwork and perseverance, and it was wonderful to see students encouraging one another, celebrating personal achievements and embracing every challenge with enthusiasm. Experiences such as these play an important role in developing confidence, independence and problem-solving skills, while also providing students with the opportunity to build resilience in unfamiliar situations.

This excursion forms an important part of our Outdoor Education Program, helping to gradually prepare and scaffold students for the extended outdoor experiences they will encounter during their Year 5 camp next year.

We are incredibly proud of the positive attitude and resilience displayed by every student throughout the day. Many thanks to our year 4 team Ms Xu, Ms Low, Ms Smit and Mrs Bridle for their care and organisation leading up to the event and on the day. Thank you also to our very brave parent volunteers and aides that came along to support and assist on the day. We appreciate your support and presence for our students to engage in this opportunity.

MEET BECKY – OUR YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR!

Gallery Image

We are delighted to introduce Becky, one of our talented Foundation students who is already demonstrating an incredible entrepreneurial spirit. Becky has been designing and creating a range of unique 3D-printed digital creations, which she plans to sell later this term to raise money for a cause that is very close to her heart, supporting the Cat protection society. It is wonderful to see a student combining creativity, innovation and compassion to make a positive difference in the community.

When Becky was asked what she would like to be when she grows up, her answer was a veterinarian scientist. Judging by her passion, initiative and determination, she is already making an impressive start towards achieving that dream. We are incredibly proud of Becky's commitment to helping animals and encouraging others to support such a worthwhile cause. We hope our school community will be able to visit Becky's stall later this term and support her fundraising efforts as she continues to turn her passion into action. Second last Friday of term, 11th September
