Science News.....

Year 2 

Students have enjoyed a hands-on start to the term, exploring water and why it is such an important resource. They rotated through a range of investigation stations to discover the properties of water, including how it changes shape to fit different containers, what happens when it is mixed with other materials, which objects sink or float and how water can even appear ‘sticky’ through surface tension.  

Year 3  

We have begun learning about matter! Matter is everything and students are learning to describe matter as either a solid or a liquid based on its properties. 

This fortnight students undertook the biscuit crush investigation. Does a solid still stay a solid if it is crushed? 

Year 4  

Year 4 students have begun the term exploring weather and climate, with a focus on Kakadu National Park in January. They investigated the region’s hot, wet conditions and applied their learning by deciding what they would pack in a mini suitcase for a trip to Kakadu, explaining their choices based on the climate.

• yoghurt container (no lids needed).  
• Thin plastic shopping bags (fruit and vegetable style!) 

Please send them along to school cleaned. There will be a box outside the Science room Tuesday - Friday.
