In this week's newsletter, you will read about National Simultaneous Story Time, Year 6 Leadership Day, 3-6 Incursion, Interschool Sport, MISEP University Melbourne 5/6 Incursion, Division Cross Country and this year's production auditions. We hope you have a lovely week and enjoy this newsletter!
National Simultaneous Story Time
On Wednesday 21st of May we partcipated in the National Simultaneous Storytime. This year's story was The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel. The 2025 National Simultaneous Story Time had over 2.3 million participants at over 21,000 locations! Here is what some of our students thought about The Truck Cat.
Zara - Foundation
How did you like the story?
I liked the story because I love kitties and the part when the man found the cat.
Can you relate to the story?
I can relate because one of my friends has a cat.
Luella - Year 1
How did you like the story?
I loved the story because the cat lived everywhere.
Can you relate to the story?
I can relate to this story because the man in the story was travelling a long way to get somewhere, and I'm going a long way to Queensland soon, where I'm moving.
Matilda Year 2
How did you like the story?
I liked the fact that in the end, the cat and the baby ended up becoming friends.
Can you relate to the story?
I can relate because I didn't like someone at the very start, but now I do.
Nia - Year 3
How did you like the story?
It was a good story because of how the people met at a bakery and then ended up getting married.
Can you relate to the story?
The man found the lost cat and I have found a lost bird once.
Emily - Year 4
How did you like the story?
I enjoyed it because it had interesting problems and it had lots of good describing words.
Can you relate to the story?
I can relate since the man in the story had a truck and my dad drives a truck to work every day.
Jordan - Year 5
How did you like the story?
I like the story because it was interesting and I made connections towards me.
How can you relate to the story?
I have a connection with my pet just like the man and the kitten did.
Year 6 Leadership Day
On the 21st May it was the second leadership day for the Year 6's at St Louis. We did different activities from the first leadership day. All the Year 6's had a fun time and most of them made new friends. Each Year 6 worked in groups with another person that they had never met before. The schools that participated in Leadership day were St Brigid’s, St Louis and Resurrection, Keysborough.
Blake
What did you like about leadership day?
I liked doing the puzzle because it was nice to talk to people from the other schools.
What did you learn from the day?
I learnt how to work in a community, e.g. puzzle activity.
Did you make new friends?
No, I didn't make any new friends, but I had a blast.
How did you enjoy the day?
I enjoyed the day talking to the people from the other schools.
Charlotte
What did you like about leadership day?
I liked interacting with other schools and working as a team.
What did you learn from the day?
I learnt that it is important to be supportive.
Did you make new friends?
I made a new friend called Olivia. She's my good friend now. I'll see her at the next session.
How did you enjoy the day?
It was great because we learnt a lot. We could work in groups, collaborate and learn about teamwork.
3-6 Science Incursion
On Monday 19th May all of the students in Year 3 to Year 6 partcipated in and Chemical Science Incursion run by Swinburne University. Here is what some of our students had to say about the incursion.
Mason P
What did you do at this incursion?
We sat in a circle and the man running the incursion asked us to predict what some experiments would be and he showed us different ones.
What was your favourite experiment?
My favourite experiment was the rocket experiment because it was fun to count down and see it fly.
What did you find interesting?
It was interesting to see how long it would take for it to countdown and watch.
Alannah
What did you do at this incursion?
We learned how to make a plastic container fly with only one tablet.
What was your favourite experiment?
My favourite experiment was definitely the rocket because another group's rocket hit the roof.
What did you find interesting?
I found the oobleck really interesting because it changed a lot.
Lachie
What did you do at this incursion?
We did a rocket experiment with water and a tablet.
What was your favourite experiment?
The oobleck experiment was my favourite because it was interesting to see it change from solid to liquid.
What did you find interesting?
I found the fact that oobleck is a non-Newtonian fluid interesting because I thought it was a liquid.
5/6 Interschool Sport
For our first round of Interschool sports this term, we played Parktone Primary School.
Soccer- In Soccer the boys won 4-0 with Josh, Luke, Rafael and Ollie scoring. The girls won 2-0 with Siena and Daphne F scoring the goals.
Footy - The boys sadly lost 6-106 with Casey scoring the only goal. The girls footy happily won with Edith scoring some and Eva also scoring.
Netball - The boys netball sadly lost 1-15, with Louis scoring theonly goal. The girls won 14-6 with Charlotte scoring most of the goals for the girls.
Last Friday St Brigid's played against Mordialloc Beach.
AFL - Our AFL 9’s team did not win but we kicked 4 goals and 2 points. Goal scores Ethan-2 Casey-1 Dash-1. Point scorers Alek - 2. We all tried our best and we went a bit better than our Parktone Primary match. Our AFL 9's girls team did not play but they were practising while the boys were playing their match.
Soccer - Boys- Goal scorers Rafael scored the first goal for St Brigid's and Luke scored another. The scores ended up with a 2-0 win for St Brigid's. Soccer Girls - Girl scorers - Christina kicked four goals and that's all we got and then the other team scored 3 goals. End game results were 4-3 with a St Brigids win.
Netball - 1 girl filling in for the boys team- Goal scorers - Jessica scored 7 goals Che scored 5 goals, Louis scored 2 with the scores being 14-3 to St Brigids giving them a great win. Netball Girls - Goal scorers - Charlotte scores 6 goals, Louise scores 6 goals, Iris scored 2 and Laylah scored 3. The final score was 17- 5 with St Brigid’s celebrating another win.
MISEP University Melbourne Years 5/6 Incursion
On Wednesday, the 5/6's participated in an Aboriginal STEM lesson. We had 4 lessons to go through, Learning about the country, doing a sorting activity, drawing some things for seasons and sitting in a circle saying what we most enjoyed about the session. We all had good fun and we would definitely do something like it again.

This week, our Year 5/6 students had the privilege of being the first primary school to participate in the Melbourne Indigenous STEM Education Program (MISEP). They engaged in hands-on activities that deepened their understanding of Country and its connection to STEM. A highlight was participating in a Yarning Circle, fostering respectful dialogue and cultural learning. A big thank you to the MISEP team for this enriching experience!
Auditions Summary
We are preparing our school production coming soon at the end of next term - School of Rock. We had our auditions for the 5/6's in Performing Arts by filming different acts that Mrs Marziano will review. I think that we all tried our very best and pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones. Hopefully soon after the singing auditions we will find out our cast.

What was your favourite part of the auditions?
My favourite part of the auditions was getting up in front of everyone and finding the courage to try out.
Were you nervous?
I was a bit nervous at the start but after starting the nerves disappeared.
Lacey
What was your favourite part of the auditions?
My favourite part of the auditions was practicing my lines.
Were you nervous?
I was a bit nervous because a lot of people were there watching.
Are you excited for the upcoming production?
I am excited for the production because it's fun to make a class dance.
What role did you try out for?
I tried out for Sia and the MC in the production.
Juliet
What was your favourite part of the auditions?
My favourite part of the auditions was getting to perform the part in front of others.
Were you nervous?
I wasn't really since I have experience on stage because I perform casually.
Are you excited for the upcoming production?
I am very excited since I love performing on stage in front of an audience.
What role did you try out for?
I tried out for Sia and I am also trying out for a singing role.
District Cross Country
Yesterday 5 of our talented runners competed in the Division Cross Country. Here is the interview with Miss Richards and Daphne.
Miss Richards
When were all the races?
The 9 - 10 girls ran at 10:00am. The 9 -10 boys ran at 10:20am. The 11 girls ran at 10:40am. The 12 - 13 girls ran at 11:20am.
Who in our school participated?
Isla S, Harry S, Isla S, Daphne F and Christina H.
Daphne F
What was it like to watch our school run?
It was very inspiring to see the kids run and I was very proud to see many students get through to Division.
How did you feel racing?
I felt excited and ready to run for our school.
Were you proud to see you and your school racing?
I was proud of our school since we got five people into Division cross country and I was also proud of my friends.
