Spotlight on Learning

Next week, Week 6 of Term 2, we will be learning and engaging in the following: 

Religious Education Focus

We are learning about Jesus' Ascension into Heaven. We will read a Bible story where Jesus talks to His disciples and asks them to share God’s message with others. We will think about how we can follow Jesus' example by showing kindness and sharing God's love.

English Focus

We will be beginning learning Stage 3 sounds, starting with 'e'. We will be building words using these sounds, such as yep, leg, net, end, at and in. We will continue to read words with Stage 1 and Stage 2 sounds. Please check the reading pouch for the sound sheet every Monday.

Mathematics Focus

We are learning to partition numbers up to 10 in a variety of ways. We will use concrete materials such as blocks and counters to explore number combinations and will apply our understanding in different mathematical contexts to deepen our learning.

Social and Emotional Learning

We are learning to develop effective problem-solving skills by exploring a variety of situations we may encounter. As part of this learning, we are practicing how to make positive, respectful decisions in social settings at school, while also learning to recognise behaviours and choices that may be considered unkind or unhelpful.

Auslan Focus

We are learning that in Auslan, communication doesn’t always require a sign for every word. Instead, we can use important features of Auslan—such as eye contact, facial expressions, and body language—to help convey meaning.

Reminders

No toys, stickers or pencil cases at school please. Students have everything they require for fun and learning supplied at school! If toys, stickers or other items are brought from home, teachers will remove the item and return it at the end of the day.

Please ensure you are packing your child brainfood each day!
