Visual Arts F-2 and 5-6

Foundation

Foundation students have been busy exploring ways to express their experiences and ideas through art. They have enjoyed talking about, drawing, and painting their favourite things — from their toys and places to colourful imaginary worlds. These creative activities not only help develop their fine motor skills but also encourage self-expression and confidence in sharing their thoughts visually.

Grades 1-2

Grade 1 and 2 students have recently completed a vibrant Indigenous art project, modelling Tiddalick the Frog and the Rainbow Serpent from clay. They then created nature-inspired backgrounds in the distinctive style of artist Bronwyn Bancroft, incorporating rich patterns and modern bright colours. As part of the learning experience, students presented their finished pieces to their teacher and classmates, confidently answering key questions about their creative choices and the stories behind their artworks.

Grades 5-6

Grade 5 and 6 students have been continuing their impressive 3D athlete sculptures, starting with the construction of a wire armature to form the basic structure. They then built up the figure using layers of foil and masking tape to develop realistic body shapes and movement. A final layer of Modroc plaster was applied to add strength and stability. Some students have now begun the exciting final stage — bringing their sculptures to life with paint, adding detail and personality to their dynamic creations.
