Delahey Campus Term 2:

Demonstrating Growth and Leadership Excellence

Term 2 at the Delahey Campus has been a vibrant and enriching journey, marked by deep learning, strong leadership, and meaningful connections across our school community. Our students have demonstrated admirable focus and resilience as they completed key academic milestones, including examinations, VM Projects, School Assessment Coursework (SACs), and the General Achievement Test (GAT).

Beyond the classroom, students actively engaged in a wide range of co-curricular opportunities, participating in sports, attending camps, performing in various events, and celebrating our school’s rich diversity. Through these experiences, they have continued to demonstrate creativity, collaboration, and a strong sense of pride in their community.

Our Student Leaders have represented the college with distinction, amplifying student voice and engaging purposefully with local and federal Members of Parliament. Their commitment to advocacy and leadership has been both inspiring and impactful. We were also proud to welcome back several alumni this term, whose mentorship and involvement have offered valuable insights and encouragement to our current students.

A series of successful information evenings also took place throughout the term, helping to strengthen partnerships between families and the broader school community, and reinforcing our shared commitment to student success.

We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment, care, and professionalism. As we look ahead to Term 3, we do so with pride in what we’ve accomplished and excitement for all that lies ahead.

A Milestone Moment in the Academic Year

This time of the year marks a significant milestone in the academic journey—not only with the completion of the General Achievement Test (GAT), but also the conclusion of mid-year examinations.

Students have approached these important challenges with admirable focus, determination, and resilience, reflecting a deep commitment to their learning. We acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of all students who recently completed the GAT and commend every participant for their dedication and perseverance. Administered by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), the GAT is a standardised assessment designed to evaluate foundational skills and knowledge across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including written communication, mathematics, science, technology, humanities, the arts, and social sciences.

As assessments for Semester 2 continue, we encourage students to sustain their momentum, seek support when needed, and prioritise their wellbeing. These assessments offer valuable insights into academic progress and serve as essential preparation for the final stages of both the VCE and VCE Vocational Major.

We extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to all students. Your hard work, discipline, and determination are not only recognised—they are genuinely appreciated.

Student Leaders Drive Change

Exemplifying outstanding leadership and unwavering conviction, the student leaders of Copperfield College have passionately advocated for free public transport for all students.

In recognition of their dedication and insightful advocacy, Luba Grigorovitch, Member for Kororoit, visited the Kings Park campus on Friday, June 13. Her visit offered a meaningful opportunity to engage directly with our student leaders, commend their commitment, and explore the newly refurbished Administration area.

Fostering such impactful connections not only elevates the student voice but also lays the groundwork for deeper ministerial collaboration in the term ahead, inspiring continued advocacy and meaningful change.

Next Stop: The Future — College Captains Visit Parkville Station

College Captains Uday Ahuja and Sophia Cruz, together with College Principal Mr. Nick Adamou and Delahey Campus Principal Ms. Soula Dedes, had the honour of attending an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the new Parkville Station. This opportunity was extended by the Minister for Public Transport.

The visit provided a unique insight into the significant progress of one of Melbourne’s most ambitious and transformative transport infrastructure projects.

Hosted by State Member of Parliament Ms. Luba Grigorovitch, the tour brought together a select group of local community leaders to acknowledge and celebrate the far-reaching benefits the Metro Tunnel Project will deliver to the western suburbs. The experience underscored the project's vital role in enhancing public transport connectivity, improving commuter experience, and supporting the long-term growth and development of Greater Melbourne.

Year 11 Outdoor Environmental Studies Camp – Lorne

Year 11 students recently undertook an enriching Outdoor Environmental Studies camp in Lorne, where they engaged in a range of outdoor pursuits, including mountain biking and bushwalking through the magnificent landscapes of the Great Otway National Park. This immersive experience afforded students a unique opportunity to connect with the natural world, fostering a deeper appreciation for the rich biodiversity of Victoria’s ecosystems. Through hands-on exploration and reflection, students developed a more profound understanding of environmental stewardship and the imperative of engaging with nature in a sustainable and respectful manner.

We sincerely thank Mr. Taseski, Mr. Lam, Ms. Brookshaw, and Mr. Blum for their dedicated leadership and invaluable support in making the camp a safe and rewarding experience for all.

Pasifika Meet and Greet Evening Celebrates Culture and Community

Copperfield College, Delahey Campus, recently hosted a Pasifika Meet and Greet Evening, a special occasion dedicated to recognising and celebrating the invaluable contributions of our Pasifika community.

The event provided an opportunity for families, staff, and community members to come together, strengthen connections, celebrate cultural heritage, and reaffirm the shared commitment to education and student success. The evening was organised by the College’s Community Liaison Officer, Mr. Fantastic Tuitama, whose efforts were instrumental in bringing the event to life.  Mr. Lio Ale, guest speaker. delivered a powerful message of unity, encouragement, and cultural pride, leaving a lasting impact on all in attendance.

Building Safer Futures Through Wise Decisions

After a demanding week of exams, our Year 11 students participated in a series of enriching and thought-provoking workshops before the commencement of Semester 2. These included the Fit to Drive program and the Pat Cronin Foundation’s Be Wise Education Presentation—two impactful initiatives designed to equip young people with the tools to make informed, responsible choices in the real world.

The Fit to Drive workshop focused on the vital topic of road safety, particularly among young Victorian road users. Through a combination of interactive discussions and scenario-based learning, students were encouraged to reflect on risk, responsibility, and the power of their own decision-making. The session challenged them to consider not just their own safety, but the wellbeing of others as they prepare to take on the responsibilities of driving and road use.

Equally powerful was the Be Wise Education Presentation, delivered by the Pat Cronin Foundation. This session aimed to change perceptions around social violence, using personal storytelling to highlight the devastating impact a single act of violence can have—not only on the victim, but on families, friends, and the broader community. Students explored constructive ways to resolve conflict, and were reminded that strength lies in walking away, speaking up, and choosing peace over aggression.

Together, these programs offered far more than information—they inspired empathy, encouraged responsibility, and nurtured resilience. We are proud of the thoughtful and mature way our Year 11 students engaged with these important themes and look forward to seeing them carry these lessons into their everyday lives and future endeavours. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Delahey Student Management Teams for their dedication and effort in coordinating these meaningful and impactful experiences for our students.

A Dazzling Celebration of Musical Brilliance

At our recent Performing Arts celebration, Copperfield College’s talented music students from Years 7 to 12 lit up the stage with an unforgettable evening of music. From powerful vocal performances to breathtaking instrumental pieces, each act showcased the creativity, passion, and skill of our young musicians. The depth of talent and dedication on display was truly inspiring, reflecting the hard work of both students and staff.

Thank you to our wonderful audience, your enthusiasm and support added a special energy to the night.  Congratulations to all performers and staff for delivering such a polished, memorable, and successful concert.

Showcasing Excellence in VET: Electronics & Health Services

Students in our VET Electronics and VET Health Services programs have demonstrated outstanding commitment, initiative, and skill across their studies. From designing and analysing electronic systems to exploring real-world applications in healthcare, their hands-on learning is both purposeful and inspiring. These programs not only build technical expertise but also foster critical thinking and professional readiness. We commend all students and staff involved for their dedication and excellence in these important vocational pathways.

Bringing Light to Winter Days

This winter, our VCE Vocational Major (VM) students have truly embodied the spirit of community through a series of meaningful and heartfelt initiatives.

We had the privilege of welcoming guests from Arcare Sydenham for an afternoon of creativity and connection. The event featured a relaxed Paint & Sip session, accompanied by uplifting live performances from our senior music students. This was beautifully complemented by a light brunch, thoughtfully prepared by our Year 11 Hospitality class.

Shortly after, the Study Centre was transformed by our VM students into a whimsical Alice in Wonderland-themed High Tea for members of the local community. With enchanting decorations and a delightful appearance by the Mad Hatter himself, the event was a testament to the students’ creativity, leadership, and teamwork, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.

Additionally, another dedicated group of VM students organised an out of uniform day and a lunchtime Karaoke event to raise funds for Parkinson’s Australia. Their efforts brought fun and excitement to the school community while supporting an important cause, demonstrating the students’ passion for making a difference.

Further enriching the season, Copperfield College VM students hosted the EB Research Fundraiser Trivia Night—an evening filled with laughter, camaraderie, and spirited competition. We extend our deepest gratitude to Funky Bunch Entertainment for their vibrant energy and to the organisers and attendees whose enthusiasm made the night a remarkable success. Together, they demonstrated how joy and generosity unite to create lasting impact.

These exceptional projects reflect not only the talents of our VM students but also their unwavering commitment to fostering connection, compassion, and community spirit. We are incredibly proud of their efforts to illuminate even the coldest winter days with warmth and kindness.

Be Heard, Be Bold

Year 11 students from all three Copperfield College campuses recently took part in the second Be Bold, Be Heard Forum for 2025, hosted at Iona College near Torquay.

This inspiring initiative is designed to empower, engage, and elevate young women by amplifying student voice and building confidence.

In 2026, Copperfield College will proudly lead a Community of Practice in partnership with local secondary schools, continuing to foster student agency and leadership across the region.

Congratulations to the following Year 11 and 12 students who were successful in being awarded with a renewal Western Chances Scholarship.  Thank you to all the nominators and to Western Chances for their unwavering commitment to providing these students with the resources and support they need to succeed.

A Hair-Raising Discovery in Year 11 Physics

Things got electric in Mr. Deo’s Year 11 Physics class as students explored static electricity with a Van de Graaff generator. With hair standing on end and sparks flying, literally the demonstration turned textbook theory into a hands-on spectacle. The charged-up session sparked curiosity, laughter, and a deeper understanding of the invisible forces at play in electrostatics. The experiment provided a dynamic and memorable way to deepen their understanding of electrostatics, blending theory with electrifying experience. It was a great moment of learning that sparked both excitement and inquiry.

Copperfield College is proud to celebrate the incredible achievement of one of our very own students, Dakota Faalili, who has been selected to represent Victoria in the Under 18 Schoolgirls State Rugby Team.

Dakota’s dedication, athleticism, and commitment to her sport have earned her a spot on the state team, where she will proudly represent not only Victoria but also Copperfield College. The national tournament will take place in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, from the 12th to the 18th of July, bringing together the most talented young rugby players from across Australia.

We commend Dakota for her hard work both on and off the field and wish her the very best as she takes on this exciting challenge. Her success is an inspiration to our school community, and we look forward to following her journey as she competes at this elite level.

We extend our best wishes to all staff, students and families for a wonderful term break and look forward to a spectacular term 3.
