🎭 Drama Department News – Term Update 🎭

It’s been a busy and exciting term in Drama, with students across all year levels diving into a variety of creative and engaging projects!

Year 7 students are discovering the bold and exaggerated world of Melodrama. From villains with twirling moustaches to heroes saving the day, it's been a fantastic way to explore characterisation and stage expression.

Year 8 is about to wrap up their second rotation and is now exploring the playful world of Fractured Fairytales. It’s been wonderful to see students take familiar stories and give them a fun and unexpected twist.

Year 9 have an exciting opportunity this term – they’ll be heading over to St Thomas' Primary School to perform their Children’s Theatre scripts for the Prep and Year 1 students. This is always a highlight of the year and a fantastic way for our students to develop performance skills and connect with a younger audience.

In Year 10, students are diving into Realism, focusing on the powerful play A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen. They are exploring real-world issues and developing authentic, emotionally grounded performances.

Our Year 11 and 12 students are taking on the challenge of performing Greek Theatre in a contemporary context. It’s been inspiring to see how they are modernising ancient stories while keeping the core themes alive and relevant for today’s world.

Across all year levels, students have been working incredibly hard, and it’s fantastic to see the creativity, commitment, and collaboration in every lesson. We’re so proud of the amazing work they are producing and can’t wait to see how their performances continue to develop throughout the term.
