Expos and Excursions
This month, all Year 10 and 12 students have had an opportunity to visit a careers expo to help navigate the many post school options available. Many have come back with valuable information, and some have returned with prizes.
Year 12 VCE students attended the VCE and Careers Expo at the Melbourne Convention Centre. There were a large amount of Universities, TAFEs, Apprenticeship companies, Employment companies and even Interstate Tertiary providers for students to glean information on. Check out the photos …….
Year 10 students visited the Victorian Career Show at the Melbourne Showgrounds to build on their career journey they are beginning this year through the Year 10 Career classes. At the Show they were able to get an idea of the volume of opportunities available to them and get them starting to think ahead. This is so important as next term they will be embarking on the subject selection process which has a huge impact on their senior studies and beyond. Once again …. some great photos here to share.
Year 12 and Year 11 VCE VM students had a guest speaker from APM Apprenticeships to talk all things work related - how to get an apprenticeship, how to secure an SBAT, how to apply and what employers are looking for. This was a very valuable experience for these students as applying for the workforce is on their doorstep so it was great to have an industry voice.
Our Senior International students attended an International Career Expo specifically designed for application and opportunities for International students. Agents and translators were also in attendance to assist. This was a most valuable experience for them.
Year 10 Incursion for Work Experience
On Tuesday, all Year 10 students will embark on an incursion at school to undertake their OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) in preparation for Work Experience. This is a mandatory requirement. Students will have a presentation and then go through the General Module and then an Industry Specific module relevant to their placement. They will then get a certificate for both to show their employer that they understand the safety issues and risks involved in the job.
