Men’s hockey

The Open team played some fast and skilled team-oriented hockey to defeat Demons 4-1 last weekend. Two first half goals from Ciaran Nelson established a good half time lead and Charlie Hawthorne added two more, each with an excellent flick at a short corner.

The boys worked well together and ran hard to control the play for most of the game. Perhaps the intensity dropped a little late in the game but goalie Cairo Cullinane remained alert and made a couple of fine saves.

We play again this Friday night and hopefully can find the same spirit and teamwork under lights.

Women’s hockey

This week on the pitch, we saw structural changes and improvements to enhance our game. Coming off a great weekend of hockey in Melbourne for JCC, the girls were keen to bring back the knowledge to our team.

Unfortunately, we lost to Dunkeld White 3-1, but we controlled the play during the second half.

Evie Templeton and Sophie Merrin worked their leads and controlled passes, creating a drive in the forward line, aiding Skye Headlam and Liv Rees' attack. Our halves and midfielders had a cracking game, working on structure and passes, developing our skills to continue the rest of the season.

Thank you to the umpires who refereed the game and to all the girls who continue to put their all into the games.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from Senior School students who play hockey and would like to be considered for selection in the ICCES Hockey team, competing in the final week of Term 2.

Students have been asked to complete an online form by Monday, 2 June. This information, along with possible trials, will assist in the selection of the team.

If your child is interested, please encourage them to complete the form (it will be in TEAMS) by the due date.
