The walk to school

Embracing the 2km walk to school each day at is important for several reasons. It promotes physical fitness, supports mindfulness, and strengthens social connections.

This daily routine helps students start their day with energy and focus, setting a positive tone for learning. Walking together fosters conversation, connection, and a sense of community. It also encourages independence and responsibility while allowing time for quiet reflection. Aligned with our commitment to wellbeing and balanced living, the walk is more than just a journey—it’s a valuable part of each student’s overall development and daily experience.

Embracing difference

With five sets of twins in the Boarding House, it can be tricky to tell them apart at first but recognising and celebrating their differences is a priority.

Chloe and Skye Headlam, two of our Year 12 boarders from Macarthur, are among our twin sets. Being a twin is a unique experience that often comes with many assumptions. Because Chloe and Skye look very similar, many assume they’re identical, even though they’re not, and often treat them as if they’re the same person with the same personality and interests.

“In the Boarding House, a lot of people couldn’t tell us apart at first,” they explained, “but once they got to know us, they quickly learned the differences, and now it’s easy for them to tell who’s who. Even though we may look the same, we’re still two different people."

Here are just a few of the ways Chloe and Skye differ:

  • Skye coaches gymnastics.
  • Chloe has blonder hair, is louder, and is also taller.
  • Skye has more freckles.
  • Chloe is older and somehow wins every single raffle!
  • Skye supports Essendon / Chloe barracks for Geelong.
  • Chloe loves bananas / Skye hates them.
  • Cats love Chloe but seem to avoid Skye.
  • They also have some different friendships.

At College, we value and embrace the uniqueness of every boarding student. Recognising these differences isn’t just fun—it’s essential for nurturing a strong sense of identity and self-worth in every student.

Homestay - June long weekend (6-9 June)

The long weekend is an exeat weekend in the Boarding House, which means that all boarders go home and the Boarding House is shut.

Two Year 10 male boarders need a homestay over the King's Birthday long weekend in June. Ideally, one of our wonderful families could have both students so that they feel comfortable together.

If you can welcome these lovely boys to join your long weekend plans, please contact the Director of Boarding, Andrew Monk via amonk@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au
