House Chess Tournament
This week’s House Chess Tournament was a battle of brains, nerves, and strategy as junior (Years 7-9) and senior (Years 10-12) students from all Houses went head-to-head in intense and competitive matches. The tournament showcased incredible chess skills, tactical brilliance, and cool-headed decision-making under pressure. An attentive audience gathered to watch the games live on the big screen. Their focus and enthusiastic support added to the tension and excitement of each move made on the board.
A big thank you to Library Captain Harry McDonald for organising the tournament and to Mr Burmeister, our resident chess expert, whose sharp eyes and official judgements helped guide the competition with clarity and fairness.
We’d also like to acknowledge and thank the students who stepped in to represent their House when others were unexpectedly unavailable—your team spirit didn’t go unnoticed!
A huge shoutout to our amazing technicians, Mr Clode and Mr Lawrence, whose efforts behind the scenes made it possible for us all to follow the action on the big screen in real time. Your support brought the tournament to life.
House results will be revealed at the next assembly, and we’re excited to announce that a play-off for the individual chess champion will take place in the library next week. Stay tuned—it’s not over yet!
