Principal Message

Dear Families,

Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend!

Congratulations: Many students across the school participated in the Ballarat Basketball Tournament over the long weekend. Congratulations to all who braved the wet and cold conditions and played. It was great to see some of our students performing outside of school and being part of their teams.

Curriculum Day: Yesterday staff were onsite moderating student work, collating assessments and writing comments for the June reporting period. As this is the first time we are reporting on the new Vic Curric 2.0, there are a few changes coming. Mathematics will have an overall assessment as per the new guidelines and we will continue to report on individual strands too. With the change in curriculum, the previous achievement in Maths and English will not be visible this semester as the old and new curriculum do not align. We hope to have the growth section back in December and next year as we report against the new curriculum.

Year 4 Camp: Thanks again to all families for supporting your children to attend Cave Hill Creek. Some great adventures had by the kids and no doubt some tired faces on Friday. These camps are so well planned by our teachers with risk assessments completed, medical information collated, buses booked and so much more. Thanks to all staff for their work and effort. And of course, the parent volunteers – we cannot do these camps without you. We hope you enjoyed the experience and had a taste of how much fun the kids have on these camps.

Facilities: Loads or work underway around the school. Please be aware of all the temporary fences around and be safe around the school. The Art room roof will be replaced in the next few weeks so Art will be a mobile program and then Year 1’s will be relocating for a few weeks to enable the roof to be replaced at that end of the building. We hope the Foundation area will be completed during the holidays. Year 1 families – we will let you know where your child’s class will be located soon. We are working closely with the contractor to have minimal disruptions to learning as possible and we appreciate you and your child’s efforts during this time to enable the upgrades and continue the learning programs.

2026 Enrolment & Tours: Tomorrow (Thursday) at 9.30am I will be hosting a school tour for prospective families. If you know of a family interested in our school that has not had a tour, let them know to book in via the school website. Also, don’t forget to enrol your 2026 Prep – if you have one! The more information we have early about your children, the better we can plan and prepare for the following year. In my experience it is usually the third child that may be a ‘late enrolment’. I know my third one was!

Have a great week everyone!
