Principal Report - The value of Parent Teacher Interviews.

At Gray Street Primary School, we are proud of the strong partnerships we foster between home and school. We believe that relationships built on trust truly matter—and clear, open communication is key to nurturing those relationships. This week’s Parent-Teacher Interviews are an important way we create space for families and staff to come together in support of student learning. These short, focused meetings offer a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth ahead of the Semester One Reports. More than just a conversation, these interviews are a chance for parents and teachers to work toward a shared goal: to help your child grow as a learner and feel happy and confident at school. We thank all families for prioritising this time. Your interest and involvement in your child’s education is not only appreciated but is also instrumental to their success.

Casual Dress Day – Friday June 20th

A reminder that next Friday, June 20th, our school will be bursting with colour and kindness as students and staff take part in Colour Dress-Up Day! The theme for the day is:

"Kindness brings colour to another’s day." Throughout the school, we’ll be focusing on how small acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day and help create a school where everyone feels noticed, valued, and they belong. We invite all students to dress in the colour that makes them feel happy—whether it’s bright blue, sunny yellow, radiant red, peaceful purple, or anything in between! We ask students to bring along either a gold coin donation or a packet of jelly crystals. These jelly crystals will be used by Student Voice to make jelly cups, which will be sold in the final week of term as part of our fundraising efforts.

Literacy Leaders Team Planning Day - Monday June 23rd

On Monday, June 23rd, our Literacy Leaders will attend a Literacy Professional Learning and Planning Day alongside educators from across the region. Staff attending include Danah Clark, Britt Hawthorne, Liisa Beaton, Janelle Harms, and Emma Brabham. This day will provide valuable time for our team to continue refining our whole-school approach to the teaching of reading and writing. Our planning will be guided by the latest evidence-based strategies, with the goal of improving literacy outcomes for all students. We are proud of the strong work our school is already doing in this space and thank our Literacy Team for their continued commitment to implementing best practice

Year 5s at Baimbridge – Thursday June 26th

Our Year 5 students will soon have their turn to visit Baimbridge College for an exciting day packed with activities! They’ll get to experience a variety of subjects offered at secondary school, including Science, Cooking, Art, and Humanities.

The day will also feature a guided tour of the school and the HUB, helping students become familiar with the layout and facilities. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to connect with current secondary students and get a real feel for what life at secondary school is like.

To ensure our Year 5 students feel fully supported throughout the day, a member of the Year 5/6 team will be attending with them. We’re excited for this valuable experience as our students take their next step on their learning journey!

Jelly Week – Last Week of Term

To celebrate the end of a fantastic term, we’re excited to announce our Jelly Week Fundraiser! This fun initiative will help raise funds for a targeted area in the yard that our Student Voice Team is eager to develop and improve. Throughout the last week of term, students will have the opportunity to purchase a cup of jelly for $2 from the canteen. Each day will be allocated to a different year level:

· Monday – Prep

· Tuesday – Year 1/2

· Wednesday – Year 3/4

· Thursday – Year 5/6

School reports – Wednesday July 2nd

Student reports will be sent home during the last week of term. These reports provide a summary of your child’s progress, achievements, and areas for continued growth across all learning areas. We encourage families to take the time to read through the report together, and to celebrate the effort and accomplishments your child has made throughout the term.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss the report in more detail, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. Working together helps support each student’s ongoing learning journey.

Last Day of Term
