FIRST EUCHARIST FAMILY FAITH SHARING AFTERNOON
On Tuesday afternoon, our Year 3 students, along with a few from Year 4, gathered with their families for a special Family Faith Sharing Afternoon. This event offered a glimpse into the students' learning journey as they prepare to receive their First Holy Communion in the coming weeks.
The students led the workshop, guiding their families through key elements of the Sacrament of the Eucharist. They began by exploring the nature of a sacrament—a celebration of God's spiritual actions in our lives. They reflected on their sacramental journey, starting with Baptism, where they were welcomed into God's family, followed by Reconciliation, where they sought to heal their relationship with God and others through forgiveness. Now, they are preparing to receive Jesus Himself as spiritual nourishment, strengthening their relationship with God and guiding them to follow in Jesus' footsteps.
The students revisited the significance of the Last Supper, discussing the words Jesus spoke that are repeated at each Mass and the symbolic act of washing feet, representing service to others. They emphasized Jesus' call for us to love and serve one another.
They also examined the sacred symbols and gestures used during the Mass. The gesture of Epiclesis, where the priest calls upon the Holy Spirit to transform the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus was demonstrated with great enthusiasm. This transformation signifies the true presence of Jesus, underscoring the reverence we show through bowing and kneeling during Mass.
The structure of the Mass was explored in four parts: we gather, we listen, we give thanks, and we go forth. This sequence reflects our mission to live as Jesus taught us and to help others do the same.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the families who participated, demonstrating their support and commitment to their children's faith development. A special acknowledgment goes to our Year 3 teachers for their dedication and preparation in making this event a success.
As our students continue on their path of faith, we ask for your prayers and support. May they, along with their families, grow ever closer in their relationship with Christ.
