Griff-Fit Excursion
Our Year 10 Physical Education class participated in an information session at Griff-Fit in Seymour that linked in with the Sports and Conditioning unit they are undertaking. The session focused on training methods, fitness components, systems of the human body and physical activity in the community.
Richmond Football Club Excursion
On Wednesday 4 June our Year 10 Physical Education students visited the Richmond Football Club to gain a perspective on the different careers in sport.
The excursion included an insight into the Richmond Institute and sports industry pathways, covering career opportunities, placements, and study options relevant to the sports industry.
They also observed a live training session, including warm-ups, drills, skill development, coaching styles, teamwork and leadership. Students completed their own training session in a high-performance environment.

Growing and Sharing at Seymour College
This term, students at Seymour College have been learning about how food is grown—and how great it feels to share it with others! Both Year 7 and Year 11 Agriculture students have been working on exciting projects in the garden and the classroom.
🥦 Year 7 Students Harvest Broccoli🥦
Our Year 7 Agriculture students planted broccoli earlier this year and have looked after it carefully. After weeks of watering, weeding, and watching it grow, they were finally able to harvest their first crop!
The best part? They shared the fresh broccoli with the Seymour College School Café and the café used it in meals for our students. How amazing is that—growing your own food and helping others at the same time?
🧠 Fun Fact: Broccoli is part of the cabbage family and is full of Vitamin C. It’s like a superhero for your immune system!
💧 Year 11s try Hydroponics💧
Our Year 11 VCE Agriculture and Horticulture students are trying something new: hydroponics! This is a cool way to grow plants using water instead of soil. They’re growing lettuce, spinach, silverbeet, and even sunflowers.
The students set up their own hydroponics system and learned how to add special nutrients to the water, test the pH, and check that the plants are healthy and growing well. They’re also learning how different growing methods affect how plants grow.
🧠 Fun Fact: Plants in hydroponics systems often grow faster than those in soil because they get exactly what they need—no digging required!
👨🌾 Learning by doing
At Seymour College, we love hands-on learning. These gardening and growing projects help students:
- Learn where food comes from
- Try new ways of farming
- Work as a team
- Help our school community
Whether it’s picking fresh vegetables or keeping a high-tech growing system running, students are learning real-world skills they can use for life.
👨🌾 Great Work, Everyone!👨🌾
We are super proud of all our agriculture students for their hard work, care, and teamwork. You are helping our school grow in more ways than one.
Keep growing, keep learning, and keep sharing!
