Classroom Happenings

YEARS 5 AND 6
YEARS 2/3/4
🌟 Literacy
In Literacy, we have been learning how to break words into syllables to make spelling easier. We've also been looking at suffixing rules – exploring how adding endings like -ing, -ed, -y and -ly changes words.
✍ Writing
In Writing, we’ve been exploring the history and significance of the Australian Aboriginal Flag. The class has been engaged in learning about what each colour represents and the powerful story behind the flag's creation. We have also been looking at the rules and protocols around flying flags in Australia- all of which has been very interesting!
🔬 Science
Our hands-on science investigations have focused on how different materials change state when refrigerated or frozen. We’ve experimented with olive oil, sugar, salt, chocolate topping, water, and juice—lots of curious discoveries were made!
➗ Maths
We’ve been busy learning how to ask effective survey questions to collect meaningful data. Students have practiced organising their data into tally charts and bar graphs—skills that help us make sense of the information around us.
🙏 Religion
In Religion, we’ve been exploring the Fruits of the Spirit. Through stories, discussions, and reflection, students are learning how to live out qualities like kindness, patience, and self-control in their everyday lives.
Thank you for your continued support and for encouraging learning at home- especially in the area of home reading. Reading aloud is a powerful tool to improve accuracy, speed, expression, and comprehension—the four main pillars of reading fluency. It also helps make reading a shared, enjoyable experience!
🎉 Special Events
It’s been a fun-filled term with some exciting special events!
- We celebrated Reconciliation with a beautiful Liturgy at Sacred Heart Church, a meaningful moment for many of our students.
- We enjoyed a music performance by the talented Corryong College Band – a big hit with the students!
- And… we filled our classroom reward jar! As a well-earned treat, we celebrated with a movie and snack session on the last day of term. We watched Encanto while munching on lollies, chocolate, Twisties, and popcorn. It was a joyful way to finish a fantastic term!
Wishing you all a wonderful and restful break.
See you in Term Three!
