Stage 3 Extension Writing Group:

2025 What Matters Essay Competition

Inspired by Gough Whitlam's commitment to involving young people in shaping Australia's future, the What Matters? writing competition is open to school students in years 5 to 12 from Australia. Responding to the simple question 'what matters?', entrants are free to express their views on any matter. Students in the Stage 3 writing group entered this competition. Here are a few excerpts from our talented writers.

Stage 2 Extension Writing Group:

The Stage 2 writing group have been working on writing creative 10-sentence stories, but the catch is - they had to follow prompts for each sentence! Students have learnt new vocabulary, interesting language features, and have been challenged to keep their stories short and sweet. Check out one of our prompts below, and some examples of student writing.
